Faves Around Town

Welcome to the Friday Fave Fives.

This is hosted by Susanne from Living to Tell the Story (click on title) where we reflect back on our week, find those special moments that I like to call blessings from God, and share about them.  Even when a week is super busy, or has difficult moments, we can all find something to thank the Lord for.....

MY FIVE FAVES

  • WALK FOR LIFE!  Last Saturday, my good friend Lynn and I, went to the park (in the south part of the town) and did a walk to raise money for the local crisis pregnancy center in downtown Albany.  We started out walking with the group but after a couple of laps around the park pond, we wanted to keep going on the outer, and longer loop!  We walked for a little over an hour and got caught up on each other's lives from the last 2 weeks.  Although it was overcast, the weather was fairly pleasant by 11 a.m. and we enjoyed an hour of fresh air, good conversation and walking for a great cause...always a fave!

  • BROWSING BOOKS!  Our 12 yr old had a movie group date with friends from her small group/Youth Group so Dave and I took the 2 hours and went to the town library together....we loved just browsing the shelves, each of us finding great finds in the genres we love...and I even finally found the 2 books I've had on my reading list for over 4 months!  It sounds geeky, but going to the library with my husband has always been a fave with me.

  • SMALL GROUP DINNER EVENT  On Monday evening, Dave and I attended a Dinner Buffet in the youth center at our church.  This was for all small group leaders and their apprentices.  Since I don't  currently have an apprentice, I asked Dave to join me.  We dropped Claire off at her pointe class and we headed over.  The purpose of the dinner was to hear the vision for small groups ministry from our new Pastor of Discipleship Ministries. There was a fairly good turn out and the food was delish.  We met a new couple who have a small group and used to be youth group leaders in another church, and joining us at our table were our good friends, James and Jeanie!  We haven't had a chance to eat a meal with them in awhile so this was extra special......good food, fellowship and friends is always a fave.

  • NEW LIPSTICK  My sister Hope sells Avon and I ordered a new lipstick (among a few other things) and love it!  It's in a Berry color, perfect for autumn/winter.  It goes on smooth, lasts all morning and feels silky....and for a sale price...always a fave!

  • AUTUMN LEAVES  Driving to and from work, walking to and from the playground with students at recess, walking around my yard, gazing at all the pretty trees in our town this past week.....just glorious color! A couple of days were downright gloomy but the colors were still so pretty! I love what our Creator has done with Autumn here in the Northeast.....spending time reflecting on His Handiwork is always a fave with me.
My week was busy but better than the week before...I think I am sllllooowwwlly starting to adjust to working full time again.  Whew...the afternoons are crazy busy once I begin to drive home and my youngest tends to have some "needy" moments...but.....all in all, I am starting to get a good routine going.

What about you? do you have some faves to share from your week? please do!!

Do you have plans for the weekend?? Please share!  My youngest and I will be heading out to Central NY to visit one of my sister's and shop at an Amish store on Saturday. And then our pastor will continue in the sermon series on Wisdom.  I had to miss the last 2 weeks due to being away......and I miss hearing him preach!!  I am really looking forward to this weekend!!

Happy Weekend, everyone!

I keep thinking I need to look into the local crisis pregnancy center in my town.... Good for you in helping their cause.

Going to the library is a favorite date for me too! I was so happy when my husband started liking books.

Your small group event sounds wonderful too. I love when God pairs us up with like-minded believers, new and old.

Plans for the weekend--we're taking our daughter out tonight for dinner and a movie ("Courageous") to celebrate her getting the scholarship she (and we!) wanted. :-) God is good.

Our local crises pregnancy center had a similar walk a few weeks ago. We didn't walk but did support a couple who did. Wonderful ministry. It's great you had such good visit with a friend.

The dinner event sounds fun.

The leaves are truly gorgeous this time of year.

Oh, I do love the library! That buffet sounds like a great evening, too.

Glad to hear you're getting into a routine. Isn't it different just being with one of the kids? I'm sure she loves you being there for her.

Have a great week ahead!

Sounds like you had a fun week of catching up with friends. I love those times and they don't seem to happen often enough lately. Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

That's wonderful when you can catch up with a friend and help a good cause all at the same time.
