Well, due to being 2 HOURS in Urgent Care last evening, I didn't get a chance to participate in the Friday feast until this a.m. And yes, I have an ear infection. My 2nd one in my entire life. The last one was in 2003.....I always thought this was a little kid illness...apparently not! The weird thing is: I had a head cold 2 weeks ago so the doc thought the fluid was from that cold and just didn't manifest into an infection until this week. So I'm on an antibiotic for which I thank our Lord for! It's a strong one but I've used it before for sinus infections and I know it works well for my body. Now if they could just come up with something to get drs and nurses to move a little quicker in the evening hours. I was rather disgusted at having to wait 45 min before even being seen and then 35 min in the exam room for the dr. to come in. I told them I would be letting management know. It was ridiculous especially as the nurse came in TWICE to ask me my name and why I was there (don't they read the chart???) Ok....here's the Friday feast a little late.

Name one thing that is unique about you.
I have never been in the hospital for surgeries or any procedure other than giving birth. I think this is rather unique as almost all of my friends have had some kind of surgery at least once.

My favorite season is autumn (no bugs during hiking!) but I like summer too.

What type of wood do you have for your home’s furnishings?
We have pine wood furnishings except for our dining room floor which is a type of oak (a cheap kind, trust me!) and our kitchen cabinets which are oak. I tend to have the Shaker style in my home so it is mostly pine. All of our dressers are pine, 3 desks are pine (the ones in our office basement are the cheap Sauder brand....but hey...it's a basement office so why buy the good stuff??). My family room coffee table is pine as is the matching end table, the tv armoire is pine and the dining room corner hutch is pine. Our living room sofa, chair, ottoman and coffee table are a bamboo/wicker combo and the rocking chair is pine. One chair in the family room has cherry wood. The baseboards are all pine as is a small bookcase in my 14 year old's room.

Who do you talk to most often on the phone?
That's a hard one: it is a toss-up between my best friend Erin and my 2nd best friend/neighbor, Melissa.

What level of responsibility do you have in your job?
In my current position as special education aide, I have responsibilites for 2 autistic children. My immediate supervisor is the head teacher in the room (the kindergarten teacher who is dually certified as el.ed./special ed). I do direct instruction, assist with whomever needs it and any other duties of the classroom as needed. I also attend team meetings and CSE mtgs although in most schools, aides do not do this. It is rather nice not having to write IEP's anymore nor run my own classroom although I do miss it ALOT! But...I believe the Lord wants me to only work part time while my children are in school so.....this was a good option for me to stay in the special ed field and still be able to work out side the home. I THRIVE when working outside the home...I actually am a happier person and feel much more fulfilled in my role as wife/mommy when I am using my gifting of teaching. SO....although a person with a Masters degree doesn't typically choose a level beneath that of a master teacher, I at least had that role for 9 years and LOVED it. For now though.....I am content with being the aide....AND I get summers off!!

Never a surgery, that is amazing. ER rooms. They are unbelievable around here. Sometimes you wait in the waiting 2 - 3 hours before even getting back into a room, especially on the weekends.
Praying for a speedy recovery!

Mmm, I am starting to wonder if I have an ear infection. I have this annoying cold for almost 2 weeks now and my ear does hurt!
I hope with the antibiotic you are on the mend.
I can so understand your desire to be an aide in a classroom now. I am a special ed teacher, and I hate writing IEP's, and I have the responsibility of running the classroom. I remember I subbed for year before going back to teaching....I loved it. I think it was because the day to day responsibility wasn't mine. It was less stressful and when you are mom that is important.
I am sure you are a blessing in your classroom!!
Waiting in clinics just seems normal to me. I don't think asking your name several times is a good thing though! I hope by now your ear is feeling way better.
