"Even when the rainbow seems to pass right by me....I'm still finding Gold in the clouds....."

01 January 2009

With the start of this New Year, our pastor posed some questions to us at last Sunday's sermon.
His text was from the end of Jesus' most famous sermon: "the sermon on the mount" as found in Matthew 7. The title of the sermon that Pastor Rex preached on was "The Wise and Foolish Builders".

Basic summary: everyone builds a life. The building blocks/foundation are the decisions we make over the years of our life. We make either foolish ones or wise ones. There are consequences to every decision we make. Every. Single. One.
We all face the storms of life. Yup. Even us Spirit-filled, born-again Christians!
The quote that our pastor made that I just love is: "Suffering is not all bad, cause it's in the suffering that we know what our house is made of".

The questions that Pastor Rex wanted us to ponder going in to the New Year are:
  • Where am I on this journey?
  • What mircro-changes does God want to make in my life?
  • What macro-changes does God want to make in my life?
  • What foundation am I building my life on?
How about asking yourself those very same questions??

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'"
Matthew 7: 21-23

"In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has." Proverbs 21: 20

Macro-changes and micro-changes...excellent questions to ask the Lord about for this year!

Mmmm...and the fact that suffering shows what my house is made of...that is a very good quote.

And I can ALWAYS use a reminder that every single decision I make has consequences. Gulp.

There's no way I could make it through this life without Him!!! So glad I don't have to!

Happy New Year, Faith!
