Friday Fave Five

It's Friday! Time to play the Fave Five Things from the past week! Link up at Susanne's to play!

Prepping for Valentine's Day!
I love to give gifts and I love the school parties.
Valentine's is a great way to show the people we love that we love them!
I love baking desserts, leaving treats around the house,
buying special books for the girls to enjoy
and thinking of ways I can show Dave I love him.
I also enjoy the Valentine School parties.
I just have Claire now in elementary school so I try to make every one of her parties. And this morning we had the party with the class I teach in. All of the kindergartners had a great time even though we kept it low-key.
One of my fave moments this week was getting the letter in the mail from the director of Youth Ministry which stated that our church (Grace Fellowship)
has hired our new Youth Pastor!
Praise be to the Lord!
He will be overseeing the entire junior and senior high youth groups, Life::Redefined.
Jam will continue for the junior high students and Emerge will continue for the senior high students. I believe the life::groups will also continue until the end of the school year. Definitely a fave moment in our household. It means some of my husband's duties can ease up!

My fave afternoon this week was Wednesday.
My 10 year old, Claire, is the violinist in the middle.
There are 6 girls in her lesson group.
They were the last group of strings to play in the 4th grade recital.
They played "Ode to Joy". (beginner level version)
It was precious to me to see my "baby" up on stage playing an instrument.
(a bit different from her dancing/singing!)

My 15 year old took this pic of Dave and I.
I like it because we don't look "perfect" in it.
We are both in our church clothes but the hair isn't perfectly coiffed.
We were in the dining room wanting a nice new pic for our FB profile.
Thank you Courtney...it's one of my fave pics of Daddy and I!

My last fave thing from this past week is the Scriptures that I read.
Two of the verses in particular from Psalm 119 have stood out to me this week.
As stated from the NIV:
"Your Word, O Lord, is eternal;

it stands firm in the heavens.
Your faithfulness continues through all generations;
you established the earth, and it endures."

These verses are comforting to me, and although I have many favorite verses in this particular Psalm as well as in the entire Bible, these verses are my favorites for the week!

So...what about you?

What are some of your favorite things from this past week?

Do you have weekend plans?

Ours include: Family Movie Nite at our church tonite (The Disney version of The Miracle Worker). Claire and Courtney both have enjoyed reading novels about Helen Keller so we are going to see the movie....it is highly recommended so we're hoping it's a good one!
On Valentine's Day: Dave and I need to sit and do some paper work for filing our taxes. We use Turbo Tax so should be a quick chore. We plan on going out to lunch while our youngest is at a Valentine's Party with some friends of hers she has met through the HizKidz Praise ministry. The girl who is hosting the party actually attends another church and is homeschooled but she and Claire have become good friends. So...thank you to Annalise for including Claire! My oldest daughter has her life::group and then Emerge and then might be going to spend the nite with one of her youth group friends. In the evening, before Courtney dashes off to church, we will eat dinner together and I will give the girls their little gifts. Tonite we are having a special dessert after the movie and tomorrow I will bake something special. Tonite is pound cake dipped in chocolate fondue!

Whatever you have planned....enjoy!

Nice picture of you and Dave. I saw it on FB. :) The pound cake sounds great! I bet the kindergartners enjoyed the Valentines Day fun, that is a great age for Valentines Day.

We are enjoying a movie night at home tonight, and I am making a special breakfast tomorrow for everyone.
