July Fave Five #3

The place to link up and write about the things, events,
or people who blessed us this week.  Our gracious host is Susanne
Can't believe it's the 3rd Friday of July already!
Our first month of summer vacation is really flying by for us.......
Each day this week has had at least one thing that makes my Fave Five list.  I hope you too had some fave moments, events, or people touch your life.

Courtney on her birthday!
11 July

Our oldest daughter turned 17 on Sunday!!  The pic is a bit blurry (my fault)...this was just before leaving for church....she is a delight to us.  She is gifted (academically and in art) and has a heart for promoting Christ in her high school.  She is a student leader at the school and is also a member of the student leadership team in her youth group at church. I cannot imagine our lives with out this girl.....and I cannot believe we are at the point where we are looking at colleges with her!

One of Mom's Fave Mugs and her Devotional Bible
Morning coffee on the deck with my Bible and time to meditate on His Word.  I LOVE the lazy days of summer when I can just spend time in the Word and drink coffee at leisure!
Claire shredding paper
Organizing the basement.  This has been a work in progress since our basement flood in mid-March.  I had a LARGE pile of old, important papers to shred.  I was able to get Claire to learn how to use the shredder and she happily did this chore for me last Saturday afternoon. Yes, I paid her. It was well worth the extra allowance money.  We filled 5 of those bags you see with shredded paper. Our filing cabinet is nice and organized again!  And most of the books have been put back on the shelves down there.  Just a few items left to go!

This cheese!  I just discovered this new flavor in one of my favorite brands of soft cheese.  I had something similar in France one morning at breakfast and I loved it!
This is the best!  I am the only one who eats this stuff. I like it spread on Garden Herb Triscuit crackers for lunch.  Yes, it is a pricey item at our local grocery store.  Yes, there are only 8 wedges.  This means I can get 8 lunches from it.  Which is basically one round a week.  I may only buy it every other week due to the price. However....it is so good and at only 35 calories per wedge plus a cut up nectarine or plum, it makes a light, nutritious lunch.  It is also super easy to pack for a picnic at the beach!

Mom's Purple Impatiens on the deck end table
These flowers!  They came back to life!!  This plant was just about dead when we returned from Cape Cod.
I nurtured it all week and added Flower Food to it. Twice. And now look.....beautiful!!!  The only bad thing is that now it is growing so well, I am gonna have to re-pot it. It is currently in a cute, ceramic pot my dear friend Erin gave me a couple of years ago. I love this pot because it looks so cute sitting on the glass end table on my deck.  But I think I better place the plant in a larger pot soon!

That's it for moi!!

Today I am taking 2 teenagers (one is mine!) and my pre-teen to a beach that is new to us. I cannot wait to get up into the Adirondack Mountains!  We are headed to Lake George, but north of the actual village.  It promises to be another hot, steamy day but at least up there the humidity will be a lot lower. Swimming in a fresh-water lake, in the mountains on a steamy day....another fave! :)

ENJOY THE WEEKEND....I won't be blogging much this weekend but if you want some "soul stuff" scroll down to the post below this one and see where the Lord had me yesterday.......Peace to you!

I love the color of those purple petunias. So pretty.

Happy Birthday to Courtney. Hope she had a wonderful day and many blessings to her this year.

I couldn't believe it when it was time for the college and post secondary school stuff either. I still find it hard to believe my oldest is gone from home and not returning and it will be starting it's third year that she's been gone. They really do grow so fast it seems like the blink of an eye.

Happy birthday to your girl! They grow up too quickly don't they.

I'm going to add that Laughing Cow cheese to my grocery list - I've heard about it but haven't tried it yet.

Your purple petunia is very pretty! I may have to get some flower food for our deck plants too. I have a little wave petunia that needs some help :)

Enjoy your beach day!

Birthdays are bittersweet, aren't they, as we watch them get closer to leaving the nest!

That cheese looks wonderful -- I am checking my grocery store tomorrow.

I love Lake George! Enjoy. I was blessed to scroll down, and your simple trust, simple peace post really ministered to me. Thanks for writing your heart.

Happy Birthday to your daughter!
A cup of coffee with bible in hand is always time well spent, my 10 yr old also did some shredding the other day. I have to get her to do some more.
enjoy your day at the beach!

happy (belated) birthday to your daughter; she sounds like a wonderful young woman! glad you got your shredding project done; that was a lot of paper to get rid of. I bet all sighed a sigh of relief when that project was over! I like Laughing Cow cheese; I'll have to see if we have gotten that new flavor here yet

hope you are having a great time today; sounds like fun!
