Blessings Among the Stress

Time to count our blessings!

Join in with us and link up at Susanne's.  You'll be glad you did......counting our blessings helps to decrease stress and focus on the positive things of God!

I had a little bit of stress, although am getting more peaceful as the weekend draws near.

Had a call from the place that does a yearly screening as part of my physical and they said I had to come in for a repeat. I've had that happen several years ago and everything was fine but it is always a bit nerve-racking especially as I can't go in until Monday! (please pray!!)  I also had my bone scan done and have the beginning of osteopenia. My doctor, when I was pregnant for my 2nd child, predicted I was a candidate. Small bones, skinny.  I thought my healthy lifestyle would compensate but...looks like I need to bulk up on more calcium, less coffee, and add weights to my walking work outs. I also am adding a stairs work out. Should be interesting!

However...with this comes peace because I can still find fave moments throughout my week......

  • HIKING!! A friend of mine and I hiked a trail I hadn't done before. It was a 4 mile hike on a mountain called Castle Rock.  It was a loop trail so we took the long way up and then the shorter, steeper route back to the car.  I fell at one point whacking my foot against a rock and  it swelled up later that night, but I forged ahead and we then hiked a 2nd trail (1 mile) to a pretty little wilderness lake (Rock Lake) about 30 minutes south of where our first hike was.  Coming down from the mountains it started to get cloudy so we stopped for a light dinner in a town where my family camp used to be.  It was a fun day and just what I needed to end the spring vacation.

  • TULIPS and CHERRY BLOSSOMS!  I love my tulips...they are all open now. So pretty in yellow, red, and a deep pink.  And our 2 cherry trees in the front yard are open and just gorgeous....and it's early! They don't typically bloom here until 2nd week of May!!  I just love the spring colors all around...God does great work!

  • BAKERY BREAD!  I love good, whole-grain bakery bread and it's usually kind of expensive.  However, this week, our local grocery store has been featuring locally grown/locally-made foods on sale and I found a wonderful bread that is made in a small city near where I grew up out in Central NY!!  And it is GOOD!  It just tasted soooo good as toast with some raspberry jam.  I ate it almost every morning with my cereal. At 2 for $5.00....a fave deal!

  • SPECIAL TEXT MESSAGE!  My oldest, away at college for another 4 weeks, had been texting me about something on Wednesday. Her last text before I went to bed was "I love you, Mommy" with a heart.  That totally made my evening complete!!  It's always a fave to hear those words from a precious daughter.

  • EVENING WITH DAUGHTER I took my youngest out to dinner on Wednesday since my husband was down in SC on business.  We went to this restaurant where they have a good deal going on right now (the 2 for $20 platters/salads). I had a delicious grilled chicken salad, and Claire had the baby rib platter. We shared spinach-artichoke dip with tortilla chips. I ate the dip and she ate the chips! It was fun, delicious, not a lot of money and....she then asked if she could sleep on Dave's side of the bed...of course I said yes. After her shower, we curled up together and read our books and then turned in early for a good nite's sleep after a hectic day!

That wraps it up for me!

Have you looked back on your week and found some fave things or moments that God blessed you with?

What is at least ONE favorite?

Coming up later this weekend:  what God showed me about waiting and faith......and....a yummy fresh sweet salad with NO sugar!

You had a lot very special moments despite the stressful ones - so glad you are finding God's comfort through it all. I'm praying for you re Monday - I know it's hard to wait for these things.

Your hiking adventure sounds awesome - and what gorgeous scenery!

What a lovely day with your younger daughter - a sweet memory for both of you to have! And isn't it fun to text? I love doing that with my kids too.

Our spring is coming earlier too - although it's our crocuses opening - the tulips are coming but not open yet.

Praying for God's deep peace for you this weekend.

I hate when they make you wait so long to retest! Praying that it was just a glitch and everything is fine.

It looks a little chilly in your hiking picture. I really would like to get a routine going on my walking. So far weekends is the only time I've been able to get out.

Love your faves from each girl. Both are precious moments.

Oh, I hate retests, especially if there is much waiting time in between. Hope all is well.

The tulip and cherry blossoms are so pretty!

The bakery bread sounds good, as does the date with daughter. And as moms we never get tired of those words of lobe.

BIG blessing during your days of waiting. Isn't it great how our children, no matter the ages, continue to be a huge blessing!

That looked like one serious hike!

Will be praying for you, Faith!

What a great week! Those 'repeat' tests can be a bit nerve wracking, but at least we have the option to have the tests done.
I love your texts--so sweet! And so was your fun time with younger daughter :)
