Summer...........
...........sand..........
.......sounds of teen girls laughing, moms chattering, dads bonding...............
............charcoal popping the scent of burgers grilling.......
........ice-cold drinks and chilled dips, chips and salads and sweet luscious fruit dripping with juice........
.........swimming, boating and kayaking..............

and cookies and towels and tousled hair............
.............beach chairs and sun playing hide and seek and sunscreen and water skis..........
..........and the bond that only Christ can bring to friendships intent on doing life together...........
a group of moms.........and their families..........
.........doing life fully because we are fully living............
in Him........
.............this is small group.
as I think back on the weekend, I realize just how effortless it was to get the gang together......
a couple of our families couldn't be with us so we invited a couple other families who ended up not being able to come either...so there were the three steady families...the women who are faithful week after week in my home, sharing the Word with me, all of us learning from each other, and lifting each other up in prayer, with encouragement and not being afraid to go deeper, to be emotionally and spiritually intimate.........
..........because of this bond we have with Jesus.
How we all pitch in and share our food, our boats, our kayaks, our thoughts...........
our teens mingle well and have fun and I am thankful we can share.........
our lives......
this is small group in the summer for my husband and me............
and although it does require a little planning, it is effortless in that we are all just so comfortable with each other........
and isn't that one of the goals of small group??
Doing life.........together........united in Christ..........

Glad you could get together with friends for fun and fellowship.
How wonderful is time spent in Christian fellowship especially in surroundings like the Adirondacks. We previously lived in Central New York and would make a yearly trek on Columbus Day weekend in October to WOL at Schroon Lake with several couples. We have such wonderful times together with memories never to be forgotten! Great post!
Gen, that is great that you were able to attend Word of Life! It is wonderful there. One of my sisters just went to a concert there and my youngest daughters friend goes to a week long camp there. I would love to get up there in the fall for a mini-retreat with my girlfriends. I am originally from central NY, too!! Thanks for visiting !
