Christmas Eve.
Excitement in the air, children laughing, people singing................
............candlelight services everywhere................
and people wishing for peace on earth
not knowing the One who is Peace...
for the earth......for them.......
for all of us..........
Scriptures resonating in my heart......in my mind.........
this Scripture........
"Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you"
Jeremiah 31:3
Love came down. In human form. As a baby. To be born and laid in a manger.........that place where animals ate....a feeding trough for a royal Baby?
It symbolizes how humble Jesus was. What an example for us.
In the midst of baking cookies, and preparing special dinners, and filling stockings and listening to the Nutcracker and singing carols and gazing at the lights on the tree, I am reminded of the shadow the Savior's cross cast across the hill of Calvary.
It's the shadows of my life that need the Light and it's the shadows in this world that need the Savior and His Love.
Are we chasing shadows? Or are we chasing the One who brings Light and Life to us......and is the true source of Peace for us.
No where on this earth will there be peace until all have turned to the One who is Peace.
Are we taking time to teach our children what the cross over the manger means? Why God used a star to show the way?
Light chases shadows...........
.............are we allowing the shadows in our hearts, in our minds, in our souls to be chased by His Light?
God loves everyone. Not just American white people. Not just the poor and sick or the rich and famous. He loves everyone. The entire world. The Scripture in Jeremiah is for US! He has drawn us........like light draws us closer in darkness.........
What are you chasing this Christmas??
I pray you chase after the One who shines His Light into the shadows of our souls..............
and savor our Savior.
