"Even when the rainbow seems to pass right by me....I'm still finding Gold in the clouds....."

By His Spirit

I'm continuing my study of the minor prophets this winter.

Some thoughts of what I gleaned from the book of Zechariah:

He was a motivator!  He  brought hope to the people in regards to what they had to do to rebuild the temple.  The Israelites faced so many challenges.  They did look forward to the Messiah's coming and they wanted to be ready but they had so many tasks to do!  And those jobs were difficult!

God spoke through Zechariah......and just like the Israelites were encouraged, motivated, and full of hope, so too can we be encouraged and motivated in today's world.  We have the Hope of the Lord!

Zechariah also foretold the coming of Jesus the Messiah.

I also believe some of the book can be for today....or the end times....which could be today!

Some parts of Zechariah are a call to repentance and truth:

"These are the things you shall do: speak each man the truth to his neighbor; give judgement in your gates for truth, justice, and peace; let none of you think evil in your heart against your neighbor; and do not love a false oath.  For all these are things that I hate, says the Lord." ~Zechariah 8:16&17

This can be for us today as well!!  In fact, Christ followers as well as the unsaved should take warning from these Scriptures.  Do we really love our neighbor?  Just who is our neighbor??  yes...it's the person who looks and thinks differently from you.  It's the person who is in a different political party than you, who votes differently from you, who worships differently, who has a different educational and socio-economic background.  Our neighbor might be thief, pedophile, adulterer, liar, murderer, bully, a crooked politician.

The verses that really jumped out at me though are found in the 7th chapter verses 9-10.

It was for then:  520-518 B.C.

It is for now: 2019

Not by our might.  Not by our power.

But....

By His Spirit.
