BEFORE CHRISTMAS FAVES

It's my last day of work for two full weeks!  My preschool agency is on Christmas break beginning at 2 pm today. That's a true blessing in and of itself.  And I have other things to smile about this week.  Things that top my faves list.

I'm sharing in the weekly gratitude exercise hosted by Susanne of Living to Tell the Story.  How about joining us?  Click here to find out more.

  • MOVIE NIGHTS!  Our youngest daughter (Claire) arrived home last Thursday evening from her college in NH.  And all weekend, besides meeting up with some friends from high school days and unpacking, she relaxed with me on the couch, in the family room, watching old Christmas classics.  This one pictured here is one of our absolute faves.  I'm thankful she got home safely and has 5 weeks to make new memories with us in between her job as barista at St*rbucks.  It's so nice to have her home to watch movies and chat.

  • SNOW DAY!  I figured we'd have a two hour delay Tuesday. I was correct.  and then just as I was getting dressed for work after a shower, my phone pinged again and it was the Remind app telling me our school was now closed due to the weather!  So I had a day off.  I'm thankful I was able to get out and do some grocery shopping and I'm thankful I was able to reschedule my fingerprint appointment for Thursday.  (all staff/teachers in NYS have to now be re-fingerprinted as the state is going digital with this). After I shopped for groceries, I came home to do some cleaning and make Chocolate Truffle Candy for Xmas Eve. It was a productive day! I'm also thankful we didn't get a lot of snow this time!

  • CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AND TREE:  This past week, we've all enjoyed some quiet times sitting near the tree in the family room, reading and drinking good coffee or hot herbal tea.  Even Dave sat in the living room one evening with his book and just a low lamp on with the candles in the window lit.  We love peaceful evenings amidst this busy Advent season.  I'm thankful we've had no major obligations this past week.

  • CHRISTMAS MUSIC:  I've been enjoying the above song in the car from Taylor Swift's Christmas cd.  My oldest daughter says T was only 15 years old when she recorded that album.  I like the country pop sound from this artist's voice.  I think she has a great voice...my daughters have liked her ever since she hit it big.  I like the above song for the real message of Christmas.  I'm thankful to have good Christmas music to listen to on the commute and running around town doing errands.

  • SCENTED CANDLE!  My husband Dave got me a balsam scented candle for my birthday.  I've been lighting it every day after work and snuffing it out before bed. It fills the house with that wonderful "Christmas smell"....and that wonderful fresh mountain top scent.  I'm thankful for this scent...I'm allergic to most scented candles,  but thankfully not to the wonderful aroma of fresh cut balsams.

That wraps up my week!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend preparing for the Savior's Birth that we will celebrate next Wednesday.

HAPPY WEEKEND.....and HAPPY WINTER SOLSTICE!!!

Today is my last day before the 2 week Christmas break as well. This is my first year working in a school and I’m so looking forward to the break! Happy Christmas.

I'm glad you're on break now but you seem calm and organised. When I worked in a school I was always frazzled by the time we broke up because usually I still had loads to do and Christmas was almost upon us. It must be lovely to have Claire home too. Have a lovely Christmas.

Hi Faith! Glad your daughter made it home safely and now you will have some family time! Wow - two full weeks off - we have 10 days - we go back on January 2. I bet that candle smells lovely. Quiet, cozy nights at home with family, reading or watching Christmas movies - on my list of favorite things! Hope you have a lovely week. Merry Christmas to you and yours, my friend!

Hi Deb, yes we don't need to go back this year until January 6!! BUT? We have already used all 3 of our snow days so anymore will have to be made up either during Feb break or Easter break or the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, so....

Enjoy the time off and merry Christmas to you and your family! I hope to do some blogging over break. Lots of things stirring in my soul.

How lovely to be on winter break and have Claire home for 5 weeks! Somehow I have never seen that movie. I need to rectify that. Glad you had a extra day off due to snow but still were able to get things done. Christmas lights are my favorite part of the decorations.

Yay for winter break!! And I am surprised that Claire has 5 weeks off.
That candle aroma sounds wonderful. All my candles are scentless--allergies here at our place. But we love our candles.
Merry Christmas!

Enjoy your break with your family. I love the traditional movies at Christmas. At our house "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Christmas with the Kranks" are the favorites along with "A Christmas Carol" with Patrick Stewart playing Scrooge. Love the Balsam candles at Christmas! Merry Christmas to you and your family, Faith!
