- IN HOME DATE NIGHT! Last Friday night, I wanted a wrap from this local restaurant and Dave wanted a burrito from his fave Mexican place so we each picked up our own dinner and met in the family room for an in-home date night! We ate on the couch picnic style and watched the Netflix movie our daughter recommended: Enola Holmes starring our fave Stranger Things actress! She is all grown up and played Sherlock's little sister remarkably well. The movie is a bit "dorky" in spots but it's fun and light and just perfect for a Friday night of relaxation. I'm thankful we had our own special date night.
- ROASTED CHICKEN DINNER: Saturday was spent doing yard work (Dave) and chores (me) plus the grocery shopping. I also did a load of laundry and worked out. My goodness, I was so tired by 3 pm but I had bought a roasted chicken from the local deli so all I needed to do was make mashed potatoes, squash (already bought cut up!), green beans, and cranberry sauce. It was a yummy dinner packed full of some of our favorite things. My oldest daughter was eating with us too and really liked the dinner. Afterwards, we sat and talked a bit and did some reading to wind down a very busy day. I'm thankful for good food, great conversation and a dishwasher to do the clean up! That's an appliance I never want to take for granted!
leaves in large puddle 28 October |
- FRESH AIR: Most of this week has been rainy. In fact, yesterday it downright poured all afternoon! However, on Wednesday, before I had to cook dinner, I took a late day power walk because the rain stopped and the skies turned blue and sunny for about 2 hours! I loved walking in my neighborhood for 30 minutes and getting my heart rate up in the fresh air. And I also was thankful for all the beautiful colors around me, including these fallen leaves lying in the puddle near my house. We are just past peak here and so now the leaves begin to fall.
- POWER OF PRAYER: I had to ask for prayer from my book group members and from my husband to feel peace over a certain situation. It's amazing what the power of prayer does and it's something I never want to take for granted. I'm so thankful we serve a God who is always there to just listen to us and bring peace.
- LIBRARY VISIT! Yesterday after work I had to return a book to the library I had borrowed 2 weeks ago. It just didn't grab my attention so I returned it and then browsed for about 15 minutes, finding a book by one of my fave authors and also a new-to-me author. Both books look fantastic. I started one last night. I'm very thankful for our towne library and all the great books to read.
Those are just some simple things I'm grateful for as we say "good-bye" to October and welcome in November.
What's something you're thankful for today??

Our libraries are still closed here. I don’t often visit but I do love libraries. I used to go all the time when my children were younger. Now I just don’t seem to find the time.
Thanks for the reminder to go get our library cards here! I love libraries!
It has rained for two days and this morning, the storm broke! It's beautiful!
A CA friend reached out to me yesterday. We shared some prayer concerns. Just knowing she was missing me helped.
Hi Faith. I love your faves. So glad you have had a good week. Our libraries our open here and like you I went to return a book I didn't particularly like and found a great new book just sitting on the display shelf waiting for me. My biggest problem with libraries is that all of the books I put on hold seem to come in at the same time, and I can't read them all! Hope you have a nice weekend. Stay safe and well.
The highlight of my summer was when our library reopened! I still don't take it for granted, and feel a burst of joy when I walk through that door:) It feels a lot different with fewer check out kiosks, and the reading area has just a few chairs. But, being able to browse the stacks again is a treat.
I love burritos!!!!
I was glad for the rain but it can stop now, ha ha. Though rain is better than snow, in my opinion.
I love the library. I'm glad ours is open even though we have to wear a mask and sign in, etc.
Sometimes the simple things are just the best. I'm hoping to visit my new local library tomorrow - I have a reservation to collect. Not sure if I can browse or not but happy to make reservations online for pick up. Enjoy your weekend.
It had been raining here too ! From Monday on we are again under lockdown, a little less then in spring because you can use public transport, and the schools are open (but on holidays) Otherwise all shops are closed and you are not allowed to have more then one visitor ! I wonder how you can invite a couple ???
I love in-home date nights. I had seen that movie advertised and thought it looked pretty interesting. The roasted chicken dinner sounds great. I love to wind down on Sat. evening in preparation for Sunday. I know what you mean about knowing people are praying for a particular issue. There's nothing like it.
