2022 Goals Check-Up #1

Well, we are past the mid-way point in this first month of the new calendar year and next weekend is a busy one for me so I thought I'd peek at my 2022 goals and see how I'm doing so far.

PHYSICAL/HEALTH GOALS

Overall Goal:  Hike in the High Peaks and Eastern Regions of the ADKS

(I tend to stick to the southern or central regions as they are more known to me)

  • Hike 2 mountains in the High Peaks Region (have 1 be a new to me mt)
  • Hike 3 trails/mountains in the Eastern Region (all new-to-me)
  • Find 4 waterfalls that I haven't seen yet, listed in the 50 Falls Challenge for the high peaks region
  • Plan 4-6 hiking events with the Fitness Friends group
Overall Goal:  Lower my Total Cholesterol Naturally
  • power walk 5 days a week with at least 2 being outdoors in nature
  • limit cheese intake to once a week
  • continue to supplement with phytosterols/check with doc at next physical
  • complete my blood work by May
  • add a weights routine twice a week
  • drink 58 oz of water a day
  • fitness ball routine 4x per week before bed
  • continue to cook/prepare plant based meals 5x per week

JAN. UPDATE:  Well, it's winter and I'm not a winter mountain climber so none of those hiking goals have been met yet.  However, I AM walking or working out to a low impact cardio HiiT routine 4-5 times a week.  I'm averaging 2 days a week of power walking outside except this last week when the temps were under 15 degrees.  On those days, IF I work out it is to the low impact cardio video I have saved on my You Tube playlist. I have my Ob/Gyn physical the end of February and hope to have my regular physical with my MD in mid-Feb.
Yes I am making good gains on the last physical goal of cooking plant based meals 5 days a week.  We are up to all of us having at least 4 plant based dinners per week!
I did plan one Fitness group event (A walk in a state park on a new to us trail) but it had to be cancelled due to freezing rain and sleet.  It is rescheduled for February 5th!)

SPIRITUAL GOALS

Overall Goal: to fully study Scripture on a deeper level/discuss with husband
  • Read 2 Major prophets/study from the Old Testament
  • Read through Psalms
  • Study the book of John
  • Prayer time with husband once a week
  • Continue to lead book group until June

JAN. UPDATE: I have begun a personal study in the book of Ezekiel.  (a major prophet).  I'm up to chapter 9 and it's been fascinating and I'm learning a lot that I will share in an upcoming post.  I'll  be doing this in installments so the first 8 chapters will be posted, hopefully, sometime this week.  This goal is begun!
The book of John study will begin when the Spring Semester small group begins here in my home on Feb 21st. So that's 2 goals beginning in February.
Dave and I still do not have a scheduled prayer time together during the week although he is doing his own Bible reading and we do pray for issues.  I'm still working on this goal!! (of getting him to agree to a set prayer time to pray together).

PERSONAL/CAREER/MENTAL GOALS

Overall Goal:  get 15 credit hours in to NYS Aspire by November
  • Complete Children's Lit course by end of January
  • Complete one nature based course by September
  • Participate in 3 special education workshops/early childhood classes
Overall Goal:  play piano more consistently
  • work on the Haydn Sonata 2 x per week
  • spend some time on worship music/playing/singing hymns once a week
Overall Goal:  spend less time on social media
  • read at least 40 books in 2022 including books of the Bible
  • start cleaning out the basement/donate/recycle old electronics
JAN UPDATE: I have begun the ASPIRE trainings and so far have 3 hours uploaded into the teacher profile on this state site.  I need 30 hours every 2 years so I'm well on my way for 2022/2023.
YES I have completed the Classic Children's Literature course via Hillsdale online College. My boss is trying to  get NYS to allow the credit hours to count towards my work credits. We have had no special education workshops yet this school year or calendar year so I've not started that goal, although we do have one coming up in March if all goes well at work. It will be a required for all special ed teachers and TAs.  Something to do with curriculum. I have not had success in finding a nature based curriculum course that my agency is willing to pay for so this goal is on hold.
YES I am beginning to play the piano a bit more and have started working on the Haydn sonata again!
Yes we have started going through all of the old electronics and "junk" down in the basement.  This project probably won't be done until close to Summer.
Yes I am doing well on my goal of reading 40 books this calendar year.  I have completed 2 (a fiction and a non-fiction Bible study)

EMOTIONAL/RELATIONAL GOALS

Overall Goal: continue to establish and maintain close friendships/family ties
  • Have friends/family over for food/game nights (it's been over 5 years since we've done this!)
  • Have one date night twice a month with Dave
  • Have mother-daughter date with both girls once a month
  • Continue to meet for coffee/lunch/walks with close friends once a month
  • Meet with my spiritual mentor every 8 weeks for prayer

JAN UPDATE: Well we had a dinner planned for last Saturday evening and had invited our Indian friends over but had to cancel due to Claire's positive covid test.  We  are rescheduling this for early Spring! We have tentative plans to have my cousin and her husband over for an afternoon lunch and game day sometime in February! So this goal is beginning.
Dave and I have had TWO date nights this month so far!!  This goal is going well.
Courtney and I had a mother-daughter date yesterday at The Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, MA. Claire has been busy working or isolating,so we have not had our date yet. We are hoping for one next weekend.
I have walked with one friend so far this month:  my friend Darlene and I walked in a local park south of where I live for about an hour one Sunday afternoon before the weather started getting icy and frigid.  It was delightful and we have plans to walk together again.
I have not met with my spiritual mentors yet this month but one of my spiritual mentors reached out to me via a text and we have been chatting and praying for each other regarding Covid in our families.
I have written 3 letters/cards to friends/an aunt this month and have another card ready to send to my California sister-in-law. I'm doing well with this goal.

That wraps up my summary of the 2022 goals so far!

How are you doing with your New Year resolutions or goals??

Did you set any for yourself??
