May is already flying by. It's been an interesting week that at times has felt like it's going so fast and other times it seems to be dragging......but one thing I do like about the end of the week is that it's time to look back and find the blessings in it. I'm linking up at Susanne's site with other like-minded bloggers to share FIVE of my FAVE things God brought to me this week.

- SATURDAY MORNING HIKE: My church friend Diane and I are also friends with a younger, single woman named Jess and we all like spending time in the woods/hiking. Jess prefers flat hikes so when I scheduled a pond trail for last Saturday, she decided to join us. Both women have been a part of my small group so we all know each other pretty well. We hiked the Big Pond Trail in the Hoffman Notch Wilderness Area. It's located in the Eastern Adirondacks outside of Schroon Lake. What a wonderful morning we had! We left around 7:45 am and arrived about 9:45. As we were signing in to the trail registry, a young couple and their dog were just signing out. After that, we were the only humans along the trail both ways. Our destination was gorgeous. We poked around a bit and by the time we were back at the car, we had hiked 3.8 miles. It was a great (and easy!) hike. I'm thankful for good friends to hike with and the spring awakenings we discovered in the forest.

- WORKFORCE CHALLENGE: The preK agency I work for decided to participate this year in this workforce challenge. Most of us teachers and therapists decided to do it virtually rather than trekking down to Albany last night to race. We were supposed to walk/run virtually as a group on Monday night but when I saw that thunderstorms were predicted, I decided to go Sunday evening as it was a beautiful spring evening with some sun and cool breezes. I walked the 3.5 miles in 77 minutes which is a first personal best for myself! (1 hour 14 minutes). I power walked the entire route except the last .3 miles when I slowed down. It felt great to have it completed! I'm thankful for challenges and the cheers of work colleagues.
- SUNNY DAYS: We've had several really nice sunny days here and we had a couple of days of rain which we really needed. What I loved about the sunshine last Saturday was that it was just warm enough to want to be in the woods with the breeze but it was also perfect for eating our lunch on the grass by Schroon Lake. We sat around for about an hour just eating, chatting, and resting. I'm thankful for sunny days and lunches outdoors.

- PHONE CHAT: I was able to talk on the phone for a bit with my spiritual mentor and prayer warrior friend. We are praying for each other regarding a couple of serious issues and I'm super thankful I have her in my life. Monica and I have been dear friends for many years. We get together about 4 times a year and each time is just special. We are long overdue for a lunch date but the phone chat was perfect for now.
- TAKE OUT! Dave and I could not decide what to have for dinner last night and I was already late getting home from work due to a hair appointment. He said he wanted Chinese food so we ordered some as take out and ate rather late but it was oh so yummy. I'm thankful we have the means to just order out when we are both tired and don't feel like cooking.
That pretty much sums up my week. Some of you wanted to know how my sinus issue was doing. It's not going well. Supposedly I have spring allergies. I don't have the classic symptoms of allergies yet the ENT at the on call claims that is what it is. Nothing she has me doing is really working. So I'm pressing in to God and trusting that this pain will go away. 8 full weeks of constant throbbing is just about doing me in. But on I go...........trying different allergy meds.....trying all the things....which is costing a fortune....hopefully it's not an infection that didn't clear up......will be calling them again next week if I don't see improvements over the weekend.
I hope whatever you're facing, that you take time for your self and relax this weekend!

Hi Faith, That is a beautiful hike you went on. So glad you were able to have a good talk with your spiritual mentor/friend. Take out is always good on a busy night. We had some sunny days here too, but then the clouds rolled back in yesterday and today is much colder. So sorry to hear you are still dealing with the sinus headaches. I will continue to keep you in prayer. I hope you have a good weekend.
I am so sorry about the continuing sinus issues. That is so frustrating when nothing works to relieve it. I hope the dr. can come up with some better ideas and you get some relief soon.
Yay for the hike and fellowship there and on the phone. I'm glad the workforce challenge went well.
Glad you had some nice sunny days and lunch at the lake! It's starting to get warm here--I sure wish we could hold on to spring a little longer before summer temps set it.
We get take-out a lot more now--it's a little easier with just the two of us. It makes such a nice end to a busy day to not have cooking and dishwashing.
Beautiful hike! Doing it with soul mates is great.
I mentioned rain in my FFF too. The rain-sun combo makes for so much green. So lovely. And another of my faves is talking to my bff/sister-in-law.
Yay for you on doing your workforce challenge!
Happy Weekend!
Good morning Faith! That sounds like a wonderful week, well, except for sinus, but if you are like me you just learn to live with it! So marvelous to live by such a beautiful lake and have access to enjoy the treasures it provides. I haven’t seen a May flower in decades! So glad to hear you had the opportunity to spend time with you prayer warriors and spiritual mentor. I know you would like to see her more often, but isn’t it amazing how God provides the opportunity when issues arise. He is so awesome! Yum, Chinese is always our go to take out! Thankfully, around here the Chinese restaurants are doing well. So many of our main stay restaurants have had to close! We just lost our favorite breakfast place. And we love breakfast out! Have a marvelous new week, and .I’ll pray for those testy sinuses!
God bless, Schotzy
So sorry about the sinus issues! I'm always impressed by your hikes and all your photos! I enjoy seeing the beautiful places you find to enjoy nature.
And I agree - it's a blessing to be able to use take out sometimes when it's just too much to cook!
So sorry you are still suffering from headaches and sinus issues. Praying God leads you to a doctor who will know just what it is and know what to do. The hike looks lovely and how fun to do it with friends. Wonderful that you were able to have that phone chat with your friend and mentor. And take out is awesome on those long hard days.
Susanne
Sorry to hear you are still suffering from sinus problems. You'd hope that if it was allergies rather than an infection that there was something you could take to relieve your suffering. Sounds like you had some good thing going on in your week though and you have good friends for support.
