JUNE FAVES

Fridays are the day I look back at the week and find the blessings from it.  Then I share FIVE of those blessings that were my faves and I link up at Susanne's space with other bloggers who do the same.  I'm trying to live a life of gratitude and this is a great way to pause and give thanks for those blessings that come our way.

FIVE FAVES

Sea Glass Centerpiece
  • SUMMER DECOR:  Yes I know it's still Spring until the 21st but last week I was getting tired of my tulips centerpiece in the dining room so took out a summer runner for the table and filled this glass vase with all of the sea glass we collected the last couple years of the beach house (about 2010-2013).  I love how the various pieces of glass look in the vase. The photo doesn't do it justice.  I'm thankful for easy decor and for the memories associated with the sea glass.

  • MORNING HIKE!  Saturday morning my friend Gerri arrived at our house by 7:30 and she and I were on our way to Wilmington, Vermont where we planned on hiking the Mt Olga trail in the Molly Stark State Park which is located in the Green Mountain National Forest.  This park is only about an hour and 20 minutes from my house.  We made it in great time and started hiking the trail at about 9:30. We did the trail loop (there are 2 options) for a total of 1.9 miles.  We arrived on the summit by 10:30 and climbed the fire tower to take some pics.  Met some interesting people doing a photo shoot for a tourism commercial and then because they had a drone which totally spoils the peacefulness of nature (and isn't allowed in the high peaks areas of the NY Adirondacks!), we decided it was time to head down and eat our lunch in the shady areas of the picnic lawn. I'm thankful we had a great morning hike and super thankful that there were NO black flies or mosquitos on this trail!

  • SHOPPING/TASTE TESTING: After the hike, we drove up the road to Hogback Mountain Overlook and Country Shop to browse, sample some amazing foods/dips/wine/bourbon and buy a coffee for the trip back to NY. Gerri had never been there before so I had fun showing her all the kitschy items this quirky  Vermont store has. I ended up buying some maple cream, maple cookies and a post card for my oldest daughter.  Sadly the wine I like from a certain Vermont vineyard was not for sale this time (a cranberry wine) but I'll head back that way sometime in the late summer or early autumn. I'm thankful for a fun, relaxing day in Vermont with my good friend Gerri.

Lush, green trees along the bike/walking path

Dragonfruit Drink
  • AFTERNOON PAUSE:  After work on Wednesday (the weather was a perfect late Spring day!) I had an errand to run and afterwards, I popped through the St*rbucks drive through near the walking path I like to go to and ordered their iced dragonfruit drink.  It's so refreshing!  I took it with my book to one of the benches along the path overlooking the Erie Canal/Mohawk River and read for a bit before walking a mile. It was the perfect pause and I'm thankful for beautiful spring days....another thing I'm thankful for is that the sinus pain I've had for most of the past 11 weeks was gone all day Wednesday and just  present a little bit yesterday.  I'm thankful for pain free hours.
Tiger lilies!
  • MORE BLOOMS!  This past week our tiger lilies began to open!  I just love them. I have a small bush under the cherry tree closest to the house plus 2 bushes of them in the front flower garden....one near the small orange rose bush and one near the large pink tea roses.  I just love all the colors popping all over the place!  I'm thankful for Spring blooms.

That wraps up my fave blessings....What were some of your faves from the past week?  Please do share!

Have a restful, relaxing weekend...here in NYS there are about 3 more weeks of school then a week long vacation!  Spring is almost over.  Enjoy the last days of it.

What a lovely way to spend the day, hiking with a friend. You have such lovely places to hike. I have the Smoky Mountains but am having to strengthen my leg muscles to walk very far. Have a lovely day.

So glad to hear you're finally getting some relief from the sinus pain. Hope that continues. Sounds like you had a great hike with your friend (apart from the drone!). I've just been looking up maps of Vermont and where the parks are - my son managed to get lost on the Camel's Hump when he was working on a summer camp in Vermont. Thankfully he wasn't on his own and he survived to tell the tale but he was quite embarrassed about it at the time. Enjoy your weekend Faith.

I put my tulip front door decoration away a few weeks ago, too. I tend to count summer from the Memorial Day weekend though it's technically still spring. It sure feels like summer today!

I love sea glass. What a neat way to display it. Have you seen on Pinterest some of the decorations they make with it on canvas or wood? I want to do something with it for my coastal guest bedroom, but haven't decided what yet.

Glad you had a nice hike and time with your friend. The flowers are pretty!

A lovely way to display your sea glass collection! The forest pictures are so soothing. Love nature and how fun to spend the day hiking with a friend and sharing a favorite store. The dragonfruit drink is good, I tend to go for either a dirty chai tea or a strawberry coconut refresher. I treated myself yesterday with your gift and said a prayer for your pain as I drank it. The tiger lillies are so pretty.

Once again, I love seeing the photos from your hikes - especially love the overlook one! And I'm so happy for you that the sinus pain of 11 weeks was gone. Praying it goes away for good!

You do live in such a beautiful area!
