Mid-June Faves

Here it is mid-June and this is my last full week of school before our first week of Summer Vacation. Next week we have a 4 day work week due to the federal holiday Juneteenth on Monday and then I'll have the last week of June off until the day after Independence Day. A couple of you have asked me about what's going on with my headache I've had  for 12 weeks.  I will share that info at the end of this post.

For now, let's take a pause and reflect on the blessings from the week....I'm sharing FIVE of my FAVES and then linking up at Susanne's site.

  • DATE NIGHT!  Last Friday night, I suggested we use a gift certificate to my fave Mexican restaurant in Saratoga Springs.  We received it from my youngest sister and her family for Christmas and Friday evening was perfect Spring weather.  Sadly, when we arrived, there were no outdoor seats available so we ate indoors.  The drinks and food are amazing and I'm thankful we had enough daylight afterwards to walk through the city park and then back to the car.  It was a lovely date night.

  • BRITISH  SERIES:  Dave and I discovered this series on Netflix on Saturday evening, so we watched the first 2 episodes and loved it.  We ended up watching another episode Sunday evening and then another one on Wednesday evening.  There are six seasons so it will be awhile before we are done. I'm thankful for good shows and time spent with my husband.

  • SUNDAY HIKE!  Sunday afternoon I called Courtney and asked her if she'd like to do a short hike with me in the Lisha Kill Nature Preserve on the other side of town. She said yes so I picked her up (and brought her some fresh cinnamon muffins I had made) and we hiked for 1.6 miles before heading back home. I'm thankful she wanted to be spontaneous and I'm thankful she lives near enough to do stuff with me sometimes.

  • "GRADUATION/MOVING UP DAY"  Wednesday I woke up with NO sinus headache pain or congestion.  I couldn't believe it. I attributed it to the 2 Zyrtec D I had taken the day before....12 hours apart. I was headache free for our class's "graduation and moving up day".  We have 12 students.  Only 10 came to school that day due to 2 being sick.  Out of the 10 that came, 5 are graduating (technically in August but we do the ceremony in June) to go on to public school or programs to meet their special needs.  From the other 5, we have 2 girls moving up to the Integrated room.  We had been practicing 3 songs all month and they performed them for the parents that came to watch.  Every student had a parent (or 2 plus relatives or siblings) there. I'm so thankful I was pain free, the weather was perfect (we hold it outdoors)  and also that our kiddoes did such a great job.

  • SCAN RESULTS:  Yesterday morning I received a message from the ENT I saw last month regarding my sinus scan. There's no sign of infection or major inflammation in the sinuses.  The radiologist did see arthritis in my cervical spine/neck area and said that could be the reason for the ongoing headache pain. Or it could be an allergy headache and the meds just haven't worked yet. Who knows. I'm going to see my primary care doc when she returns from vacation at the end of the month and also keep my follow up ENT appointment. And today after work, I have a chiropractic appointment to share these results with her and see if there's any thing she can do about the arthritis in my neck/spine area. 12 weeks is a long time to deal with constant headaches and i'm very thankful I won't need sinus surgery and that I've had some pain free days. Please do keep me in prayer if you are a praying person.  I'm getting frustrated about this issue. However, I'm thankful for the peace of God and that HE is bigger than any allergy or arthritis pain.

That wraps up my week.  I hope you have a good weekend!

Hi Faith. So glad that your week went well despite your headache. Sounds like you have some answers now and can move forward with getting relief. Have a good Friday and a good weekend!

I hope you can find the answers for your headaches and how to treat them. That must be so upsetting. Spontaneous outings are always the most fun. I haven't watched Peaky Blinders yet but I've heard good things about it. I've been going through my Poirot series with David Suchet. Have a lovely weekend.

I'm glad you've had some pain free days and I hope that maybe addressing the arthritis shown on your scans helps. I guess it could be a combination of both that and sinus issues from allergens causing such horrible headaches so maybe a 2 pronged treatment plan might be needed. Lovely to have some Mother and daughter time and a date night. Have a good weekend.

I am sorry you continue to have the headaches. Hopefully, you will soon have some answers and relief.
Your Sunday hike sounds like a fun time with your girl. And your date night dinner too.
Congrats to all your little ones graduating to other classes.
Happy weekend to you!

I'm so sorry for the continued headaches. I hope one or more of the doctors can find something to relieve the pain soon. What a relief that you won't need sinus surgery. I'm so glad you were pain free for the graduation/moving up day and everything went so well with that. Your date night sounds lovely.
