Wow this week really went by fast! I truly can't believe we are almost into March!
Let's pause and find the blessings in the past week. Several of us link up at Susanne's space to share our FIVE FAVE blessings to remind ourselves to stay in an attitude of gratitude. There's always something to be thankful for no matter if your week was full of excitement or just the mundane tasks of keeping everything flowing.
Tuesday morning 20 February |
- BLUE SKIES AND SUNSHINE: This past week has been glorious, although very cold in the early mornings and evenings. The sky was a vibrant blue and the sun shone. I sat on our backyard swing briefly to soak up some natural vitamin D for about 10 ninutes, watching the birds flit to and fro from the trees to the suet or feeder. I'm also thankful I was able to get out 3 days this week and do some good walks. The pics below are of a part of our town's bike path that I don't normally walk on....it heads north from the town pool and then turns east. It was a glorious day! I'm thankful for the mild winter we've had.

- MOVIE NIGHT: Dave and I are trying to have more in-home "date nights" so we're not spending a lot of money this winter.....we like to spend it in the warmer months.....so we found this movie on Paramount + which we had never seen. What a fun family film!! The little girl in the movie really makes this movie stand out. She's phenomenal. Such a sweet story. I'm thankful for good movies. (due to some mature content it's not really appropriate though, for the under age 14 crowd in my opinion).
- AFTERNOON WITH COURTNEY: Monday afternoon was an "in her apartment" date day with my oldest daughter. She had the day off from work due to President's Day and my husband was busy with a project so I went over to spend some time with my oldest. We wanted to watch a couple episodes of The Handmaid's Tale so I picked up a coffee from *$ and she made herself some tea and we spent a couple hours together. I'm thankful she set aside part of her day for me.
- MORNING COFFEE: I'm super thankful that we own a coffee brewer that can be set up the night before and upon waking up in the morning, there is fresh brewed coffee that comes on at 6 AM. I love my first...and second...and sometimes third...morning cup of hot, fresh coffee.

- SURPRISE GIFT: Yesterday I drove about 45 miles west to where my Uncle Cliff lives with his wife Anna. I hadn't seen him since early autumn so a visit was long overdue. We chatted about all kinds of things and then he said he had something for me. He totally surprised me with 2 large photo collages of my dad and dad's family (and my mom and us girls). He told me he wanted me to have them. I was so touched I burst into tears. I miss my daddy horribly and although I know he's in heaven with Jesus and Mom and that I will see them again one day, I still miss our talks and walks. My uncle is a huge blessing in my life and I'm so thankful for this precious gift.
Tulip shoots! |
I was super surprised to see some tulip leaves shooting up through the ground in our front flower bed this week.......this is the earliest I have ever seen the tulips coming up and I've had them since 1996. Can you say "Climate Change???"
BONUS FAVE #2: Our oven died last Sat evening. Sunday we went to look for a new range. Had no luck. And then we remembered: BRAD!! Our plumber who is a godsend, also repairs various appliances which we just learned this past summer. He also goes to our church and so we have a good relationship with him and knew he wouldn't mind if we called him on a Sunday afternoon. We described the problem with the gas oven and he immediately guessed what it was. 2 days later we had the new $20 part and he put it in only charging us a fraction of the labor costs. What a blessing to have this man in our lives!! I despise shopping for appliances and now we should get many more years out of our stove/oven.
That wraps up the special blessings from my week. I've also had other special blessings like a text from my dearest friend Cheryl S, a special phone call from my friend D and some encouraging marco polos from my friend Deborah in TN and Deb in Utah. I'm so thankful for the power of praying friends and the technology to keep in touch.
Have a wonderful weekend!!

Hi Faith. You have a lot of gratitude this week! Those photo collages of family pictures are truly a treasure. What a wonderful gift from your uncle. So glad you were able to get outside for some walks and also spend time with your daughter. I hope you have a great weekend! See you again soon!
I understand how special those family collages are! Such treasures!
Great news that your gas stove was able to fixed so afordably. That was sure a blessing.
I've not seen that movie. Is the lady on the cover Liv Tyler from Lord of the Rings?
I'm glad you and your daughter can visit so easily. I wish my daughter and I could do that.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.
What a lovely week filled with blue skies, sunshine, and invigorating walks! It's wonderful to hear that you were able to soak up some natural vitamin D and enjoy the beauty of your town's bike path. Gratitude for the mild winter is definitely something to celebrate. Here's to more blessings in the coming weeks! By the way, I just posted a new blog entry, and I'd love for you to check it out!
Those collages will be a true treasure to you and to your girls, too. (you've given me an idea about maybe making some for my family members)
I'm sure you are looking at those tulips and thinking that maybe better hiking weather will be here soon. Three days of walking outside is a good amount in February.
What a sweet time with Courtney!
Enjoy more walking and quality time this weekend!
Sounds like you had a great week and lots to be thankful for. Glad you got your oven fixed and it wasn't too expensive either. Those photo collages are definitely precious - a lovely gift. Have a good weekend.
Great that you were able to get your oven fixed!!
Wow tulips already, that IS early. I've never seen them before daffodils!!
Hi Faith, how nice of you uncle to give you those pictures. My dad has been done 11 years now and I mis him so much. We were so close. I like you know we will meet our parents again. Your friend Deb from Utah used to live in my city years ago. We met through Blogger. Small world right? Have a great week!
What a blessing that collage was!
It's fun to get together as a family, but fun to have one-on-one time, too.
It's so nice to have a reliable person to work on appliances. I'm with you, I'd much rather have mine repaired within reason than have to go shopping for a new one.
Our daffodils are starting to come up. I love these first signs of spring.
What a wonderful gift your uncle gave you! So nice to spend some time with both of your girls this past week. My youngest is coming for a visit this weekend and I'm really looking forward to it. My hubby and I like to watch a movie together on the weekend too. It's getting harder to find something we would both enjoy. Right now we are going through our bluray collection. After we watch it we decide whether it's really worth keeping, in other words will we watch it again. Tulips already? That is early!
