"Even when the rainbow seems to pass right by me....I'm still finding Gold in the clouds....."

Tuesday Four

Joining in on the Tuesday Four while I wait for the debate to start!

1. How about now? September is still a new beginning to  the year.  What will it hold for you? Not sure September is a "new beginning to the year" but if you're a teacher like me...er...I'm retired now but....teachers do think of September as the start of a new year...not sure other careers do! September is the month where our church has all of the small group leaders begin their new Bible studies or book studies for the Autumn semester. New classes begin at church (women's classes, financial classes, fitness classes, moms classes and marriage classes). September personally brings to me my 2 youngest sisters' birthdays (Hope and Jill) and one of my dear friend's birthday (Deb F).  September brings me heading to the lake to kayak in the mid morning, and hang out on the beach in the afternoon. September brings better hiking conditions (no bugs, no high humidity and typically cooler temps).  September brings more bonfires, more days for sweaters, and my Christmas shopping for family members begins.

2. As summer's heat fades do you get out and about in nature often?  Where do you go, what do you do?  What would you like to do? YES! If you spend any time on this blog at all, you know I'm a Naturalist (spiritual temperament) and that my sport is hiking. I love summer but I also absolutely love the end of September when Autumn begins and harvest type activities occur. Where I go is usually  the Adirondack mountains or the Green Mountains (Vemont).  I also go to some of the state parks that I missed going to in the summer months. (Lewey Lake, Caroga Lake), I kayak, hike (same as in June and July), I tend to go to some of the New England towns to do some leaf peeping. I used to bike a lot but am no longer able to bike. One thing I love to do is host bonfire nights where we eat chili, have wine and cheese and invite church friends over.

3. What has changed in your life that you miss/regret the most? Hm...well life brings change, right? I don't have any regrets other than I wish we had done a better job about stressing prayer time with our daughters. What do I miss the most? My mom and dad. I miss talking to my mom on the phone (she died suddenly in 2012) and I miss my dad's talks and his smile and spiritual wisdom. (he died in 2017). It's hard to believe it's been so long since I've hugged my precious parents. I also sometimes miss my daughters being little. But I'm thankful they both have their BS/BA degrees, have good jobs/starts to their careers, and their own apartments in our capital region area so they are both near by.

4..  Money is no object, nothing stands in your way.. are you going to move  or stay where you are? I'd move (once Dave retires...he's 6 yrs younger and only 58 so he has a ways; I'm 64 and retired at age 63, about 7 years earlier than I originally planned due to spine issues).  My dream house is a log home, 2 bedrooms, large great room, large kitchen and a bathroom with a screened in porch and a back patio with large fire pit area on a lake in the southern Adirondack mountains or somewhere in NH or Maine. I'd even settle for the north shore Boston. If i was REALLY wealthy, I'd love a brownstone apartment in Charlestown area of Boston. One of our fave parts of Boston.

How can you improve your life?

By representing Christ well and doing more stretching every single day.

My different church groups are starting back this week. We both miss our parents. I like the home of your dream too, both of them. Yes, I eat eggs because I need the complete protein they offer. The nutritionist said it was okay. My cholesterol actually goes up more with carbs than proteins.

Hello Faith, * I enjoyed your answers. I'm impressed that you're an avid hiker. I used to enjoy walking a lot but now have joint issues.

I miss my mom so much. She passed away six months ago today. I miss our daily phone calls and I miss spending time with her. I honestly can not believe she's really gone. I find comfort in knowing she's with Jesus now, but I still miss having her here with us. If money were no object, I'd probably live in Southern California where I wouldn't have so many allergies. The ragweed is horrible here in North Carolina!
