I'm joining in again with this blog to participate in these fun questions for Over the Hump day! I've got a busy day with class at church (a morning class I take) and then some gardening, errands and an evening social event. I hope you all have a great Wednesday!
1. How did you meet your significant other? If you don't have a significant other, tell us how you met your best friend.
I have a husband of 34 years and he's my best male friend. We met in a church we were both attending at that time and I met him again at a party for single people. I knew he was interested in me a few weeks later when we had our first official date.
2. It's Department Store Day (October 16)...do you still shop in department stores? If not do you miss that kind of shopping experience? Do you have a favorite department store? Any fun memories of department store shopping when you were a child?
I still shop in Macy's....maybe 1-2x a year as well as H & M and Nordstram Rack. d I still shop at JC Penny's once or twice a year as well. Other than that, the places where I shop tend to be online, free trade websites. A fave dept store would be H&M and a childhood memory of shopping at one would be when my parents took us 3 girls (before my youngest sister was born) to the BIG Montgomery Ward store in Albany. We were from a very tiny village in upstate/central NY, so going to Albany was a huge deal. I remember specifically getting Easter dresses there and being allowed to go up and down the escalator.
3. Something you're currently nuts about?
Cranberry Lime Sparkling water. And reading the Game Warden Series set in Maine, featuring Mike Bowditch.
4. What's your favorite nut and is there a favorite recipe where this nut is used?
I love walnuts, cashews and hazelnuts so hard to choose just one. A yummy recipe I make is my mother's homemade Chocoholic Brownies with walnuts. SO gooey and good.
5. On Wednesday we officially reach the '70 days until Christmas' mark. Have you purchased any gifts? If you don't celebrate Christmas then how about Hanukkah presents?
Yes; I've ordered a gift for my youngest daughter and it's on its way. I've ordered a gift for my husband; I've bought a gift for oldest daughter and youngest daughter. I shop sales and a little bit at a time beginning around early October. The one I bought for youngest girl was found in a local store back in July. I've had it hiding ever since because sometimes she comes over to do her laundry.
6. Insert your own random thought here:
This is a peaceful spot. Central Adirondacks on a road most out of state people don't even know about. I hope it stays that way!

Beautiful photo of the central Adirondacks. Wishing you a lovely day, my friend.
Very pretty pic! I love fall colors.
My sister and her family spend a week in the Adirondacks every summer with another family and love it. That's a beautiful photo! The colors in the northeast are more vibrant than ours in the south, but then we don't have all that snow coming either : ). Have a great day!
I have not been in a department store in ages - but for some reason, you have reminded of JC Penney's and I think I would like to wander around there!! Hope you are having a good week -
Fun memories about going to the big city for Easter dresses. Church is a great place to meet. Chocoholic Brownies sound real good. I hope your peaceful spot stays peaceful! Happy Hodgepodge to you.
I’m enjoying how people met their spouses/friends. Thanks for sharing yours.
I enjoyed reading how you met your best male friend. :-)
Cranberry Lime Sparkle water... YUM!

I miss the Montgomery Ward store! There was one near where we lived in MD and I enjoyed shopping there before it closed. It was replaced with a Boscov's store which quickly became my new favorite. Have a great week!
