I really liked the questions for this week's Wednesday meme.
1. What are your current priorities in this season of life? Elaborate as much or as little as you like.
My current priorities are my time with God followed by time with husband/daughters (praying for them, spending time with them, etc). We are empty nesters but both girls live and work in the NYCapital Region so for that I'm grateful. Other priorities are the 3 ministries I lead plus the organization I joined (Volunteer work) called HomeBound. After that?
2. What's one thing you wish you had more of?
Teeth. I have lost (had to be extracted due to fractures or infections or in one case both) 3 teeth since 1992. One was just extracted Monday. I'm not thrilled. Have a bridge in one space, a crown on a tooth, and an empty space. This latest will be another bridge probably leaving me with just one empty space. THank God none of them are in super obvious places.
3. Do you celebrate Halloween? If so, what are your Halloween traditions? Any special plans for Halloween this year?
We didn't allow our girls to go door to door to trick or treat when they were little. We would pick them up from elementary school at lunch time and then go to a hotel with a pool to swim, hang out and go out to dinner. We would also watch a movie some years. Once they got to high school, we handed out treats to trick or treaters on Halloween night and I would bake Pumpkin Squares as a special treat. We decorate the front porch for harvest/autumn and in the month of October I add a lighted Jack O Lantern. No plans this year. I'll be handing out candy/little treats until it runs out and then the porch light will go off. My youngest will come over to watch Law and Order SVU with me and we will eat the Swedish apple Pie or Pumpkin Squares I made.
4. Last thing you ate that contained chocolate? Last thing you made that called for chocolate?
Last thing was a banana chip muffin for breakfast. Last thing I made that called for chocolate was my Pumpkin Squares.
5. Do you prefer laid back weekends or do you like to have a lot of plans? Thinking back to this past weekend... which was it?
When I was teaching full time, the weekends were filled with chores, errands, and some fun. Now that I'm retired, my husband and I usually have one special thing we do plus relax at home. Except during leaf raking season. Like now. We have to rake. and bag. ugh. As for this past weekend: most of Saturday morning was spent getting the boats from the state park where we had them since April to bring them home for the winter. This trip included lunch out. then most of the afternoon I was raking leaves and trying to manage the tooth pain as my extraction wasn't until this past Monday. Sunday was sleeping in, having a leisurely breakfast, church, lunch with the choir members followed by a choir mtg and then home to just relax and read and manage the tooth pain. Nothing exciting

So sorry about that tooth pain. HomeBound sounds like an interesting ministry. Leaf raking is in the past for us but I do remember what a chore it was with the neighbors huge maple tree dropping all it's leaves on our side of the fence. :) Happy Hodgepodge to you!
hi Ellen! HomeBound is made up of volunteers who go to nursing homes/assisted care facilities, private homes or hospitals to visit with people who are recovering from surgery or who are "shut in" or have dementia/Alzheimer's and need someone to pray with, talk with, send cards to, etc. I just joined in Sept and really enjoy it. I have another visitation on Monday which is why I hope this extraction pain goes away sooner rather than later!!
Sorry about your dental problems. I am at risk for losing teeth because of osteoporosis. I have had wisdom teeth removed and I did not like that. I wish we had colorful leaves to rake! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
The movies we go to has Tuesday discount for $6.00 each. It is newly remodeled with reclining seats that are very comfortable!
So sorry for your dental woes. You are not the first to mention a banana chocolate chip muffin today. I might need to bake some : ) Hope you have a nice weekend!
Hi Faith! I really enjoyed this post. You really stay busy in your retirement. I am looking forward to retirement and hope that I can stay as busy and engaged with life as you are. Have a great Friday. See you again soon!
