I cannot believe it! Today, after church, my husband totally surprised me with an early birthday gift (#48 is next month). He had asked me what I wanted for xmas and I told him I only wanted a kayak...the new LLBean women's powder blue one, like in the picture. Well, today, he called me from his cell (he was out running errands) and told me to get the girls and come to the driveway....he was standing there with our neighbor and......he said Happy Birthday.....and there were TWO kayaks (one for him, one for me). Now, they are not powder blue but rather a swirl of aqua, green and yellow...kinda like a tie dyed look....and they are not LLBean, but rather from Sports Authority but.....hey.....I was TOTALLY surprised! I had no idea he was getting these. (he had taken Courtney shopping last week and she helped choose them). So....not only can we continue to do my absolute favorite activity (hiking) come spring, but now....we can add kayaking! We have only kayaked on Cape Cod when we visit the beach house. We borrow my brother in law's kayaks for the ocean. Mine will be for fresh water lakes and ponds only. We don't have kayaks for the girls yet....but.....there is always next year!
God is so good....He has truly blessed me with a fun, loving husband.
So...around our house...it was a busy weekend, with doing the desk, attending church, preparing for the beach house/Thanksgiving....and now....I can sit down tonite and study my kayak manuel!

How fun! I am happy for you and your kayak. I've kayaked in Hawaii before. We live on a lake and we have a small dory with oars, and a paddle boat too. Our sons have a speed boat that I will get into occasionally. I hope you have a lot of fun times with your kayaks, and happy birthday early.
What a keeper he is! Kudos to you hubby for surprising her! My hubby loves to do this kinda stuff too. I don't care if it's a new pen or some kinda candy I've never tried he's always bringing something home.
Have fun with it!
Hi Connie Marie: I want to get to Hawaii some day but even more I want to get to Alaska!! We keep thinking once the kids are out of college....and they are not even IN college yet!
Amy: I sure will have fun with the kayaks! I discovered kayaking in the mid-'80's but was a poor grad student and couldn't afford one. Learned from a boyfriend. I am now counting the months (5!!) until I can get it in the water!
I can't wait!!
that is so cool, Faith. That's one way of encouraging healthy living. I have been thinking about getting my man a waterproof mp3 - i saw a gizmo advertised in a mag. He loves music and use to do laps at the local pool, but not this year!
I have been kayaking 3 times and loved it, but that's because i love the sea.
