"Even when the rainbow seems to pass right by me....I'm still finding Gold in the clouds....."
"...they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh." Matthew 2: 9b-11.(NIV)

Happy New Year! e-Mom just introduced me to you at her New Year's Eve party, and I'm pleased to meet you! She asked what we might have in common. This is my first time here, but I can see that we're both Christian women, have 2 daughters (I also have 2 sons), and are teachers. I don't teach in the public schools anymore, but still use my skills to homeschool my kids. Come visit me and give me your ideas. :-)

hi Jennifer. I will come "visit" you! That is great that you are using your teaching skills to teach your own children. I don't hear of homeschooling moms who were actually teachers, teaching their kids. I know lots of women who homeschool but...they aren't teachers! Good for you! My husband and I felt since we live in an exceptional public school district (rated #1 academically in a tri-county area) we would send our girls to it. It has been great but then again we stay highly involved and now that I work in the district I know even more about it. It also helps that we have them in a local church where most of the kids they hang with also attend the public school district or are in a private Christian school here in town. I am glad to "meet" you especially since it sounds like education is am important to you as it is to me...and you are a Christian...Praise God...
Thanks for coming over. I LOVED hearing about the mountains in your area. I have a high school friend in upstate New York and hope to make it over there someday, but Oregon is so far away from there! But I do love mountains and would go that far just to see them! We also do a lot of hiking in our area. We're just 5 minutes from a fabulous hiking area and spend a lot of time there. We haven't branched out to areas beyond Central Oregon yet, with our youngest just three. But he's a trooper, and people are always a little shocked to see him climbing steep slopes with us!
