Thursday, May 1st, is the National Day of Prayer.
Most communities/churches do something to commemorate this day.
In my local area, our church will be joining many more Evangelical churches at the State Capital, downtown, in prayer.
My daughter could also go as there are teen leaders going; however, I won't let her miss class.
Our high school is very supportive of teens wanting to "stand for their faith" and also allow students to participate in the "See you at the Pole" day in September. She has participated for the last 3 years in that event, because it is held during homeroom. She is not allowed to skip classes, even for church events!
I plan on joining my fellow believers in prayer throughout the day that day.
I am praying for our nation's leaders/future leaders, community leaders and schools/fellow teachers.
My husband and his co-leaders are taking their group of middle school students (Life::Redefined Youth Group) on what he calls (he designed the program) "Mobile Intercession". It is the suburban equivalent to a prayer walk. They will be doing this in the evening in place of meeting at the Youth Center for their life::group Bible Studies. They will be targeting the local high school, the junior high, the town court, various community organizations, and a city high school. My husband is giving the students/leaders the information about each targeted spot and they will go there physically to pray. He believes that knowledge, with physically being there (not just praying in church for these places) will have more of an impact on the kids and will stick with them for a longer period of time. This has gained the approval of the person in leadership over the Youth Ministry so this is a good thing and has helped my husband feel confident about what he plans on doing. Please keep them in prayer. They are truly taking a stand in the community for the Christian faith!
