Today begins: National Week of the Ocean!

You can help "celebrate" National Week of the Ocean by doing many different activities:

If you homeschool or have toddlers/preschoolers try these ideas:
  • borrow library books about ocean animals/marine life: get fiction and nonfiction books
  • follow up your reading with a whole language activity by learning songs (Baby Beluga, Down by the Bay); doing an art activity such as an ocean diaorama or painting a dolphin cut-out, etc; doing some pre-math by matching various ocean animal stickers.
  • go on a field trip to an aquarium
  • rent a movie about ocean animals/marine life
  • eat goldfish crackers as a snack
Teach your family/children how to keep our oceans clean.
Reduce, reuse, recyle....especially plastic! Sharks eat just about anything (especially tiger sharks) so make sure you have a recycling bin and place all your plastic items in it.
Also, if you are like us and have to contract with a garbage collector, choose one that participates in recycling.
Be a good steward of our Lord's creation!!

"Do not pollute the land where you are.....do not defile the land where you live and where I dwell, for I, the Lord, dwell among the Israelites." Numbers 35: 33a, 34

"Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths" Psalms 148: 7

Please Note: Earth Day is Tuesday, April 22nd.....I will be posting some ideas of how to teach stewardship of the earth to your children. Please feel free to share your ideas, too!
