My husband, God bless him, made his own Father's Day breakfast.
I had every intention of cooking him eggs, sausage, fruit, toast with 2-Raspberry Jam, and hot, strong coffee. He decided, however, that he wanted REAL bacon. (I only buy turkey bacon). So...he made almost a pound of bacon for himself and the 2 girls. I stuck with a bowl of cereal & blueberries with cinnamon toast. And of course, coffee. Lots of it. (how did he get the bacon?? well, Saturday evening, before our company came over, he decided he wanted to buy ice cream for our guests...even tho I had already planned snacks....and with the ice cream, came a pound of bacon....lol)
While he was cooking the bacon, the old-fashioned way (i.e. NOT in the microwave!), the sound of the sizzling made me think of my walk with the Lord.
Has it been sizzling lately?? Or have I lost my zest for Him and His Ways?
I love the Lord. I could spend more time in the Word, though. On the days I DO spend time in the Word, I can "feel" like my walk is sizzling with the Son. And when I am out in the sun, doing my power-walking, or biking, or gardening, or even just relaxing on the deck, it is easy to picture my self talking with Jesus out there in His creation. And then prayer or meditation often follows.
But....what about those days that are mundane?
Just like Dave had to be right there to make sure the bacon didn't burn, so too, do we have to be right there in the Word to make sure we don't get 'burned" by Satan. When we are sizzling in our love for the Lord, Satan is gonna try to come and steal us away either in our thought-life or our emotions.
So.....let's make sure we are sizzlin'! Getting back into the Scriptures each day. Meditating on your devotional or Bible Study. Keeping a prayer journal, or if you don't like to write, just sitting and talking to the Lover of your soul.
Spending time with friends/family who encourage you or hold you accountable.
SIZZLE for God this summer........your life in the Son will shine brighter and maybe other's will sizzle, too!

Sizzlin' for God. Love it!
e-Dad adores bacon and ham too... which I break down and buy about twice/year. (We don't eat pork. Have you ever seen what those animals eat?)
Gotta love a guy who can manage to get bacon to come home with the ice cream! LOL. I rarely buy bacon, but we discovered the Costco brand less salt variety and we really like it.
I love how you get lessons from the Lord from every things.

I shouldn't have read this blog so late in the afternoon, now that I've seen that picture all I can think of is bacon! Worse yet, because I'm a planner, I have meals for the next several days already lined up (i.e. defrosting in the fridge), and there's no wiggle room on the menu!
