From a Friend

Well....the "Versatile Blogger Award!"

How neat it was to open up my laptop, about 30 minutes ago, while eating lunch on the deck of the beach house where we are on vacation, and see a note from my blogging buddy, Susanne from Living to Tell the Story! She said she had passed on this sward to me.  That made my day!  THANK YOU, SUSANNE!

Yes....this blog is a bit versatile.  I started it as an online parent newsletter, maybe about 4 years ago, to encourage other Christian moms with various activities for children and teens.
It has now become more of a food/family life/friendships/faith(spiritual walk) kind of blog....I tend to write about all of those topics.....and of course depict vacation photos and the antics of my daughters.

So.....in accepting this award I am supposed to write about 7 things you don't really know about me.
Hm....Susanne, this could be difficult.....regular readers here probably know at least 7 things about me already!  But....here goes......

  1. I do not like swimming in the ocean all that much.  YES....we go to the T----family beach house every July and/or August to spend a week.  YES...it is located on Buzzards Bay (Cape Cod).  YES....I love it here.  I tolerate dipping into the water because everyone else enjoys it and it is an easy way to stay cool.  BUT...I much prefer swimming in fresh-water lakes.
  2. I am afraid of diving, or jumping, into very deep water.  I don't like to dive at all and never do.  I am not a good enough swimmer.  And as for jumping into very deep water...it freaks me out that I can't see the bottom.
  3. I cannot stand eating lobster.  No kidding. Again, then why am I on Cape Cod?  (Because it's my in-laws place and we don't have to pay a rental fee!).  Seriously.....I used to pretend to like the lobster when Dave and I were first engaged and married because it seemed like everyone else in the T----family liked it, too.  (and all of them do except my daughters, nieces, and sis-in-law).  Once I found out she didn't like it either, I became brave and told my in-laws, "no thanks" and grilled tilapia, bluefish, or salmon instead.  Everyone is much happier now :) (and yes...the rest of em still get their lobsters...I just don't have to eat it anymore!)
  4. I don't like strawberries but I LOVE raspberries.
  5. I lived in Missouri for two weeks. (the story behind that will have to be for another post). It was not a vacation.  I actually lived there. For only 2 weeks.
  6. I first kayaked at age 24, on one of the Great Lakes (Ontario).  I was petrified the entire time. Now....I prefer kayaking over any other sport, and I LOVE it!
  7. I became a born-again Christian in 1975, at the age of 15, at a "church camp"......I did not make my Savior, my Lord until I was about 28 years old.  Big difference between accepting Him as Savior, and allowing Him to be Lord over your life.....it was something I had to "learn"!
So....there you go! Hopefully, you have learned something new  about me....and now...I pass this award on to e-mom from Chrysalis.  Her blog is VERY varsatile...she writes about marriage, children, faith issues, spiritual development, Biblical history, and I always learn something new when I visit her!  Check her out!! (oh!  and she is the host of "Marriage Monday" which many of us participate in!)

I don't like swimming either... there, it's out. Even in a lake. But I love spas, jacuzzis and baths... go figure!

Thanks for the blog award! I love versatility. How boring life would be without it, "eh?" (For CDN reader Susanne.)

Enjoy the rest of your vacation! ღ

You don't like strawberries. Now that shocks me! I'm with ya on the lobster though. I don't enjoy seafood much on a whole. I'd much rather have a nice fish anyday.

I have only ever swam in the ocean once in my life and I liked it.

OOPS, READERS! I should have clarified the "I don't like strawberries" statement. I was a bit allergic to them as a child, and thus avoided them. And now that I am no longer allergic, I don't care for the flavor of strawberry, in any shape or form, including the fresh berries. :)

That's it Faith, I am done reading your blog..............you don't like strawberries, I never knew! Don't know if we can stay friends!!! Ha ha :)
JK! And lobster, I used to hate it, but as I have grown older, I actually do enjoy it. So glad you stuck with kayaking! :)
