I awoke today feeling a bit stressed over some financial decisions we need to make regarding our daughter's college expenses. I feel so bad for students of this generation....there is so much less financial aid out there and the "needy family" status has gone way down (meaning you have to be practically poor to get any kind of aid that is not a loan or an academic scholarship). While I praise God for providing Courtney with a very good academic scholarship, and we are so thankful for that money, I am still stressing a little bit. And I know this is normal, according to all my friends who've had children already go off to college. And I don't wanna stress or worry......because then it's like I am not trusting God to provide. So.....
I was ready for work a little earlier than usual today and while waiting for my 12 year old to finish her breakfast so I could see her off at the bus stop, I decided to open my short devotional book, Jesus Calling. I had read the entire book through 2 years ago, and now only occasionally pick it up.
And.....this is so like God in my life experience: He totally reminded me of just WHO He is and WHAT He does for us!
Here is a snippet of what jumped out at me for the entry of 23 March:
"I am a God of both intricate and overflowing abundance.
When you entrust the details of your life to Me, you are surprised by how
thoroughly I answer your petitions......
Best of all, your faith is strengthened as you see how precisely
I respond to your specific prayers......
come to Me in joyful expectation of receiving all you need...
and sometimes much more......"
(from Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, c.2004)
Psalm 36: 7-9 says:
Aren't His promises reassuring?? I am so thankful of His reminders to begin my day!! I can hide His Words in my heart........
"How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, and You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light."
And....
Isaiah 41:13....one of my favorite verses in this book:
"For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, 'Fear not, I will help you.'"
Aren't His promises reassuring?? I am so thankful of His reminders to begin my day!! I can hide His Words in my heart........

I love when God does that, bringing reminders in ways I couldn't have planned! Sending a child off to college is huge. But He is bigger! :v)
