SPRING READING LIST!

Ok, so Spring officially began on Sunday 20 March but I was busy with the Marriage Monday post that day.  So....am finally taking some time before heading to bed to post my Spring Thing Reading List.  This is an event hosted by Katrina from Callapiddar Days  Basically, those of us who are participating, simply list our reading goals for the months of Spring 2011 and then in June we report on how we did!  I may even do a couple of book reviews....in fact, I just completed a marvelous novel about the Jewish Children in Occupied Paris in 1942 that really left an impression on me....my oldest daughter is currently reading it so I will have that review to you soon.  It is quite a book.

Here are the books I want to finish/read during the next 3 months.  All books are fiction unless otherwise noted:
  • Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen (am currently reading)
  • Crazy Love by Francis Chan (Christian non-fiction)
  • The Glittering World by t. greenwood
  • Little Bee by Chris Cleeve
  • Sing You Home by Jodi Picoult
  • The Seasons of Marriage by Gary Chapman (Christian non-fiction)
  • The Confession by John Grisham
  • The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson(#2 in the Millennium Trilogy)
  • The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson (#3, Millennium ")
  • Minding Frankie by Maeve Binchy (I can't believe she has another out! YAY)
  • The Paris Wife by Paula Mclain
  • One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp (Christian non-fiction)
  • Night Road by Kristin Hannah
  • The Scent of Water: Grace for Every Kind of Broken by Naomi Zacharias (Christian non-fiction, real life stories)
  • The Shelter of God's Promises by Sheila Walsh (non-fiction/study book)
So that's what's on my list of "want to read"
The last one is the book I'd like my small group to (possibly)study come autumn.....we are just beginning the Women of Faith series book titled Living Above Worry and Stress.  Since I am the leader of the group, I spend about 2 hours a week on it...I read one chapter and then study it, prepare notes and search the Scriptures to add to the study.  So I will be completing that book with my group and we should finish it sometime over the summer.

My goal is to at least complete the first 5 novels on this list, and to acquire and read the one by Ann Voskamp and the one by Naomi Zacharias....since my library most likely won't have those 2 books (although they have many Christian fiction ones), I'll use my gift card to the local Christian bookstore to purchase those!  Everything else will be borrowed from the towne library!!

Do you have spring reading goals?? do you like to read??

What books do you want to read? do you see any from this list that intrigue you??

I have a t. greenwood book on my list too! It's a new to me author. I have never read Maeve Binchy but have about three books in my book basket waiting that I got at a library sale. Maybe next challenge. I'm interested to hear what you think about Ann Voskamp's book in light of all the controversy going on.

Looks good -- lots of variety in your list! We're going through Crazy Love with our small group right now and with every chapter, we're feeling more and more convicted. And inspired. Good stuff! Thanks for being part of SRT '11! Hope you're enjoying your spring reading so far!
