Book Review #2 for Spring Reading

Well I can't believe I finished another novel this week but I did....it was a short read....and an easy one...and I didn't waste time on Facebook that much....so I got lots of evening reading in......

This book was ok.  It was a nice story.  Fiction, a little bit of mystery, lots of romance, but not sappy romance.
It was  the kind of book that pulls you in as soon as you begin the first chapter.  In my opinion it kind of took forever to get to the main point of the story (there's a sort of sub-plot going on besides the mystery of what happens to the first couple of characters introduced.)

Setting is the state of Arizona.  I learned something new about that state.  I didn't realize that the Flagstaff area received snowfall that rivals what we get here in NYS (especially out in the western part of my state).  It is actually set in Flagstaff and in Phoenix.

Basic Plot:  main character finds the body of a Native American young adult male in his driveway on the morning of a blizzard.  The man is dead. He is now consumed with trying to find out what happened to this young college aged boy.  Meanwhile, he meets the boy's sister and falls in love with her.  However, he is engaged to be married......and he has kept putting this off.....his fiancee is not super likable yet the new woman in his life is very likable.

The ending was rather surprising to me.  I was actually very disappointed in the way this story ended although I can see WHY the author wanted to end it the way she did.  It was my very first t. greenwood novel. I actually looked for some of her other books at the library as they got glowing reviews but my towne library was all out of her books.  Just as well.....I am moving on to another novel from my Spring Reading List, and planning on buying the Ann Voskamp book this weekend with my gift card!!

Would I recommend This Glittering World? Yes, because it is a good story with an underlying truth about forgiveness. However, the way the author ended it was just not satisfactory in my opinion.  I don't like the sadness of the ending.......it left me with the feeling of hopelessness for his relationships and with the knowledge that he "settled".

Would love to know your opinion on this book....if you read it, let me know!

Appropriate for ages 15-adult.

I'm reading a t. greenwood novel right now too, "Undressing the Moon". I'm having mixed feelings about it because of the heaviness of the subjects being dealt with by the main character. So far it's not a light, happy read but it is written nicely. (Which is not to say everything I read has to be light and happy). It's one of those you're not sure about but you can't put it down because you just have to find out what happens.
