Savoring...Snapshots...Sun...Scripture....

It's Friday and time for the Fave Fives, hosted by Susanne from Living to Tell the Story.

Let's take time to reflect back on the week and find 5 of those special treasures God blessed us with. I like to add pictures to my list of faves.....here's what blessed me this week:

my fave kind of lunch!
  • SIMPLE LUNCHES:  the photo above is one I took of my typical lunch this week.  My youngest daughter loves the petite pain (little bread) rolls for breakfast with butter and fresh fruit such as strawberries or pears. I prefer them with some fromage (cheese) and pomme (apple). And the other awesome thing about this week's lunch menu is that the gala apples were on sale at my local grocer!

  • SUNNY AFTERNOONS:  Wednesday was particularly sunny with temps just a little above 50 degrees F. I stepped outside on my front porch to hang out our spring flag and discovered this crocus that had just opened! (the front of our home gets the afternoon sun).  Love it!!  A true sign of spring....

  • SCRIPTURES THAT COINCIDE:  In prepping for my small group, I was in Psalm 1 where it talks about if we meditate on the word of God, we will be like trees planted by the waters.....this was on Sunday and Monday..and then a couple of mornings after that, while I was doing a quick devo before heading to work, I randomly opened to Jeremiah 17:7.....hm.....right along the same lines as to what I've been meditating on all week...I love how the Lord does that with us!!

  • OLD SNAPSHOTS!  My oldest daughter, Courtney, helped me scan and crop some old photos from when little sis (Claire) was younger.  The 6th grade graduation committee at Claire's elementary school is putting together a DVD for parents of all the graduates from their years at the school, or even from their baby and prek days.....we are allowed to send in 10.  We chose a variety of photos including one of her doing her ballet solo at a musical at church, and one at the beach house, one in the Adirondacks, several of classmates at her birthday parties, etc.  This one was one of our faves, mainly because kindergarten was such a great year for Claire.....and...because when she was in kindergarten, my oldest was in 6th grade...now my oldest is graduating from high school and the "baby ballerina" is graduating from elementary school....oh what fun we had together on Tuesday nite, looking at hundreds of old pictures. I will treasure that time always.....(and thankfully my teenager really knows how to scan, crop and email old photos...I only know how to do digital ones!)
  • STRAIGHT A's!  Claire's report card came home from the third quarter.....and once again she received all A's. (we don't do pluses at the elementary level in our district).  She has made it from kindergarten thru this past quarter of 6th grade with every single report card, every single quarter with all A's. (and no, she was not labeled "gifted" like her big sis....).  She is in all regular classes except for math (she's in the high level math) and she does take the extra Art course once a week for accelerated art students. She is also taking German for 6 weeks (required class) but since it just began, they don't have a grade yet.  We are so proud of her! and hopefully this will continue next year at the Junior High! And yes...I am bragging on my children...but that's what moms get to do, right??
That is it for me!  Enjoy your weekend......can you believe it is April already?? we have a super busy month ahead of us.....but.....it's also the start of some exciting things!!

God bless you!!

Awww, Claire looks so cute in that picture! I have so much fun looking back through old photos of the kids. It's amazing how quickly the time passes! Enjoy your taste of spring!

That lunch looked delish. Tell Clair congrats, both of my girls got on the honor roll this quarter also, our boys struggle a little more with school than the girls so neither of them made the honor roll. And it is perfectly ok to brag on your children, it is our right. Now have a blessed weekend.

I love apples and cheese for lunch too.

Yesterday I noticed some greenery of my spring flowers coming out too. Alas this morning they are covered in cold snow.

Congrats to Claire on her good grades. Cute picture. I love looking at pics of my kids when they were small.

Fruit and cheese do make a wonderful lunch.
Bragging about your kids is part of the "mom job"!

It sounds like you have had a lovely week, Faith! I love it when scriptures coincide like that - it's a wonderful feeling knowing God is watching over us like that. And congratulations to Claire, that is lovely news!

Things have been so busy here I have missed out on Fridays Fave Five for the last few weeks. I have had lots to be grateful for though and I hope to get back soon!
