FAMILY, FRIENDS, FLOWERS, FRUIT.....

I'm writing this on a beautiful spring Thursday afternoon before my family needs dinner and my mom friends come over for small group.  I love taking this time to reflect on FIVE FAVE things from my week...this week includes family, friends, flowers, and fruit drinks......

Hopefully I will have a chance before work to link up over at Susanne's where other people also link up to post their own Fave Fives.  Feel free to head over to her place and check it out!

MY FIVE FAVES THIS WEEK:

  • DATE NIGHT WITH DAVE, AND NEXT DAY CLEAN-UP!  Dave and I were able to have our first date since Christmas.  Yup..it had been 3 months since we had gone out with out the girls.  Courtney was going out to see the high school musical on Saturday evening, and Claire was going to see it on Sunday afternoon with her small group.  So, since Dave and I know several of the teens involved in "The Music Man", we decided to go!  Several of them are friends of Courtney's so it made it extra special to see them perform.  And the next morning, Dave cleaned out the shed thoroughly with Courtney's help, and made an area (pictured above) in the shed to hold all the rakes, shovels, etc.  It is nice and organized out there now......and now we can move on to the yardwork......!
  • LUNCH WITH FRIENDS!  Dave and I were alone for lunch on Sunday as our teen had Easter choir practice and our tween went to the musical matinee at the high school.  We headed to our  fave diner in town after the 11 a.m. service and lo and behold, one of my best friends and her hubby were there as well!  We joined Lynn and Mike at their table and had so much fun chatting about the church service, baseball (both guys are huge Red Sox fans) and our summer plans....Lynn and I discussed the possibility of a hike in a couple of weeks, after Easter.  It was a fun time with fun friends....and lunch was yummy!  I had a spicy ham salad on a croissant and Dave and I shared a huge piece of chocolate creme pie...a big treat for us as we don't usually eat that type of dessert!  YUMMY!!
  • FRUIT JUICE!  My 12 year old saw a commercial during Glee one evening and kept saying how she wanted to try the juice that was featured (pictured above).  Now, this is a child who normally does NOT like blueberries or any "dark" fruit other than deep red strawberries. She prefers the lighter fruit like pears, melon, honeydew and clementines.  So...I decided to buy it even though it is the ridiculous price of $1.69 per bottle.  That's a bit pricey!  But...once she tried it, she LOVED it!!  It is from the Acai (ah say ee) berry with a hint of blueberry.  And it really IS delicious.  (she let me have a small sip....haha....).  Of course, I ended up buying another bottle for her to enjoy this coming weekend.....I just wish they came in a 6 pack!  I think it would be more cost effective that way!
front yard blue "star" flowers

  • FLOWERS!  Not only are my crocuses up and almost past prime already, but these delicate little light blue flowers that we call "star" flowers (we don't remember the actual name!) bloomed this afternoon after work.  I have several of them in my front flowerbeds and under one of the front yard cherry trees.  They are so pretty and last until the end of May.  I just love them...they really whisper "SPRING"!

Claire vacuuming her bedroom

  •  A HELPFUL FAMILY!  I love that my daughters helped out with some spring cleaning this past week.  Courtney (top pic) didn't really have a choice as she had a bit of Quebec Trip money to work off (she needs to pay us for half of her upcoming trip).  She is now out of debt and we will surprise her with some spending money for when she goes with her French Club. Claire willingly....er....grudgingly....vacuumed her bedroom carpet this afternoon after homework was completed and then put her laundry away that you see folded on her bed.  She wants to earn some extra money for her Boston field trip that is upcoming in June.....it is nice to see my daughters helping out with household chores.

That wraps up 5 of my fave things from the past week.....I also must include, though, the special sharing time I experienced in my small group the last 2 Thursdays...these mom friends are so special to me and I am really enjoying the Women of Faith book we are studying.....how awesome to know that our God is such a personal One who loves us and heals all our fears, worries, anxieties, shortcomings, hurts, and pain.  He is the Light when we face darkness!  As you begin to prepare for this most Holy of Weeks in our calender year, may you remember why the people shouted "HOSANNA"...may you reflect on just what our Savior and Redeemer did for us on that Cross...and may you rejoice as we serve a Risen Savior and praise Him on Resurrection Day/Easter!!

God bless you and have a great weekend!!

I'm still trying to motivate my kids on the spring cleaning thing. I have so much to do.

I've that drink is really nice. But it is a bit steep in price though it's supposed to be very good for you.
