I'm continuing to learn to look for....the simple things....the simpler life.....treasures....or at least what I like to call "treasures from God".....I've started reading the book One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. It's different. You can tell it is right from her heart, soul.....creative writing style....very poetic...at least so far. I like it....it's....different. Simple....she seems to look at what I call "treasures" as gifts.....gifts from our God.....the One who Loves us unconditionally. So...when I bought the book last week, I decided to take a journal I used to use as a Bible Study journal (a study I started with a friend in 2009 but we never finished it together...so...I tore out the pages I had written and started with a fresh, blank book) and write whatever was on my heart after reading a section or two of the book. I won't be sharing all of the contents here....some of it might turn out to be personal or about my husband/daughters that is too personal to share on this blog. But...this first attempt at being more "poetic" and looking for the simple things in my daily life is one I can share......have you read this book yet?? Do you do any creative writing?
FROM MY JOURNAL: TREASURES:
- soft spring breezes and sun dappling thru branches~budding in April freshness~~soon to be bright green~~spring green leaves and grass and shoots of flowers pushing thru soil now thawed from winter's clutch~~
- the laughter of little girls~so quickly becoming little women~~hugging, kissing, shaping, molding~watching mom laughing with them(I'm a mom!!) while trying to organize ballet classes and rehearsal schedules, violin, clubs, youth group, and looking for the laughter amidst the busy-ness of everyday life~~and finding it so much more simple to
laugh and play,
laugh and pray~~

A poetic person I am not. LOL. But looking for the simple joys and gifts God gives everyday, I'm all over.
lol...I'm not really all that poetic either Susanne...although God HAS give me songs in the past...truly a God thing because I'm not a composer either! I thot I'd get back with my creative side though and start journaling about the simple things, the treasures...now that my heart is healed from some friendship sadnesses and loss.....
Awww, I love the laugh and plan, laugh and play and laugh and pray.....yes a little laughter does go a long way. You btw, are the 2nd person who is talking about the Ann Voskamp book. I will have to check into it for summer reading. :)
Hi Sandy! my group is still praying for you all btw.....:) and YES...try the book...it's different. I read little bits of it each evening....it's not like a novel or regular nonfiction book. it's kinda like reading her blog....she has some deep insights to her relationship with the Lord....it's quite different....
