I am participating once again in the FFF hosted by Susanne from Living to Tell the Story. This is a time to reflect back on the last week, and post our five favorite things, events, people......things I call treasures, gifts, or blessings from God. How about joining in? To do so as a blog writer, simply head over to Susanne's by clicking on her blog title above. If you aren't a blogger, simply tell me in the comment section what your fave thing was from the last week!
This 2nd full week of summer vacation has been busy but not too bad...it was certainly a calmer week than last week.....and I can easily find more than 5 things that make the list.....the Lord is so good to us here in North America...He really is....compared to other regions of the world....we are a blessed continent!

Faith and Claire kayaking in Cherry Plain State Park 2 July 2011 c. F E MT photos 2011 |
- KAYAKING on a beautiful afternoon. The 4 of us headed out to a wonderful little state park about 35 minutes east of us and enjoyed a late afternoon of swimming, snacking, and using the kayaks for the first time since last September. We simply were much too busy in the spring to get them out....but now that a more relaxing time is upon us, we plan on using these alot. The Princess didn't want to swim or kayak...she decided to just relax with a book....Dave swam with Claire and kayaked with me and then enjoyed snacking and reading. I swam with Claire, kayaked twice, both times the full length of the lake, and just enjoyed being in the Creation God blessed us with!

- NARNIA 3 for family movie night! Usually we only do "family movie night" in the winter or early spring months...but it seems like this year, with Courtney heading off to college soon, we are
wanting, savoring, these evenings more and more. None of us had seen this flick yet so Dave picked one up from Red Box (only $1) and we enjoyed a Sunday evening movie night. We all enjoyed it which is always a fave with me!

- ICE CREAM with extended family! On Independence Day, we had no plans for the first time in many years! My aunt and uncle from Virginia were up visiting other relatives, and made a stop at one of my sister's house. So.... we drove up to see them (along with my youngest sis and her family) and we all had "make your own sundaes". It was fun to chat with my aunt and uncle especially because they can't stay up here for the graduation parties. And we were home in plenty of time to enjoy grilled food and dinner on the deck and see fireworks that a neighbor set off. (yes, even tho it's illegal here in NY!!...but it sure was nice not to have to travel anywhere to see them!)

- BOOKS from the town library! I love our library...found 2 great books to read this week!
- TIME with a friend.....on the lawn, early evening, drinking fresh-brewed iced tea with loads of lemon.....Last evening, my husband and youngest went off to youth group, and my oldest was tweaking the slideshow presentation for her grad party...this left me with a chunk of time to have my friend Lynn over for a chat....we both are spontaneous people and need to be since we have full schedules almost all the time. It was a nice evening, no central air needed, windows were opened. We took our tea out to the backyard and just had a chance to chat and plan some fun days to spend with our daughters. There is nothing like a good friend to help you walk through life....always a fave with me!
that wraps it up for me.....I hope you had a blessed week and can find a few faves of your own....please feel free to share one with us in my comment section!

Looks like we were both enjoying the ice cream this last weekend! When we were visiting K and took a walk around the lake there were kayakers aplenty, even a kayak race going on. I thought of you and took pics and I was actually going to post them just for you. :v) I would love to take up kayaking. Looks so relaxing and nice.
The spontaneous visits with friends are some of the best. I need to do that more often!
The kayaking outing sounds wonderful. We have a college student heading off in the fall, too. You're right, family time has become even more precious this summer. I'm enjoying just hanging out on the porch, having ice cream and listening to my kids. Summer is great for that.
What a great photo of your daughters kayaking. Your day at the lake sounds just right for memory making.
I love to haunt the library as well. There are always sooooo many books I want to take home. But I am trying to be good this summer and read what I already own.
A movie night with the fam is a blessing. Maybe you guys will be able to see the new Narnia movie that comes out soon (next week?)I want to finish reading the book first. Although I know that means I will be disappointed with the movie b/c it doesn't follow the book.
Have a great week.
Sounds like a great all round week Faith!
So I do see we've both been enjoying our public libraries this summer. We went kayaking as a family once and it really was fun. Have a great weekend!
Library books made my list this week too. I love the library. Kayaking looks like so much fun! And I'm glad you had the opportunity to spend quality time with a friend.
LOTS of love for libraries this week! Your summer looks like it's off to a terrific start with kayaking, cool stuff to eat and drink, and friends and family to share it with.
Your fives all made me smile. Family time is so precious. We love the Narnia films, and it looks like you had a gorgeous day at the park.
Quiet time with a friend is a great gift, too!
Looks like your family is getting to spend quite a bit of quality time together before Courtney's departure; I'm so glad! :)
So glad you're enjoying so much family time this summer! It's always fun to get out and enjoy God's creation as a family! My husband and I were just talking last night about what great childhood memories we have of camping with our families and how we want to create that rich environment for our children.
