Do you like novels with suspense, drama and fast-paced action?
This is for you!
I read this book in one week and it was great!
The art on the book captured my interest first and I picked it up to read what it was about. Before I was even to my car in the library parking lot, I had read the first 3 pages.
The author is new to me and if she keeps writing, she will be a success for sure!
The setting is Vancouver Island, British Columbia (Canada)
It's contemporary fiction.
Each chapter is a "session" with a therapist that the main character goes to see for various issues in her life. For example, chapter one is "Session One". It's very clever.
Story Summary
The main character, Sara Gallagher, has wondered all of her life about her birth parents. She was adopted by a couple who were childless and then they went on to have 2 of their own daughters. Sara didn't have an ideal home life.....her adoptive dad, once his own daughters were born, favored them. Sara has always wondered why she was given up for adoption and she is finally ready to take the steps to find her birth parents. She has a fiance and a 6 year old daughter and is busy planning her wedding as well as working on restoring antiques with her business.
She does months of research and finally discovers her birth mother! However, she is rejected. She then discovers a deeper secret: her birth mother is the sole survivor of a serial killer, known as the Campsite Killer, who just so happens to be Sara's biological father! And soon he finds out about her....he has never been caught for his crimes of the last 30 years. Every summer he kills.....and he has now found out about her!!
This is a complex story of one woman's quest to understand her self, her origins, and her family....if she can only survive!
Will she meet her biological father face to face? Will he finally be arrested?
read the book to find out!
There is a surprise ending.......
MY THOUGHTS
This was a quick read because it is definitely a page-turner.
I could not put it down! Therefore, I am behind on my spring cleaning because I have been reading!
The character development is amazing...the author does a great job portraying a variety of characters with complex personalities. The suspense towards the end of the book really propels the book forward until you just HAVE to finish the chapter to see what happens..and then you just HAVE to start the next chapter and finish the book! I had a suspicion there might be another "bad character"....turns out I was correct but I was totally surprised as to who it was. It left my mouth hanging open!
I highly recommend this book for ages 17 and older.
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest, I rate this a 10.
