Tough Week Faves

This was an absolutely tough week.

Tough.  Tiring.  Troubling.

But there are always blessings among the storms.....always.  Here's mine

  • GOOD HEALTH REPORT: Yeah for a normal mammogram.  The waiting for a repeat was nerve racking but I finally had the repeat exam done;  they didn't have to do an ultrasound because the radiologist said everything was perfectly normal and I don't have to return for another year!  THANK YOU GOD! (and thank you to those of you who emailed and commented that you were praying...I really appreciate it and love how the body of Christ rises up in unity for prayer support.)
  • A LISTENING EAR!  My husband and I received some upsetting news in Tuesday's mail.   Due to the nature of the letter, I won't get into  it here on a blog but...let's just say there are some wounded people in the body of Christ and our former church. I was very thankful to have a  good friend of mine to text and talk to all week.  She happened to know what was going on and  it was helpful to have someone to "talk" with even if it was just texting.  Listening ears of good friends is always a fave.
  • My Pastor's Wife!  I could not have gotten through Wednesday evening without the phone call I had with my pastor's wife. I was so distraught on Tuesday about the mail we received, that I had texted her asking if we could connect at some point so I could share some news with her. She texted the next morning while I was at work asking me to call her.  We made a phone date and I am SO thankful for a godly, mature woman in my life who is also a friend.  I thank the Lord for her and for our conversation. Although we talked about some difficult issues, she helped me to put things in perspective. and we got to share with each other in a way that really helped....and that's always a fave.
  • Chicken Empanadas!  Ok, so how does this fit in to a tough week?  Because these are made fresh by the deli at The Fresh Market and they are delicious and filling.  I tossed 6 of them into the oven on Thursday evening because I had a friend coming over for coffee and Dave had to be at the youth center with Claire by 6 pm.  They are so easy to make because you only have to re-heat them for 10 minutes. I poured some parmesan pasta sauce on top, baked them while the risotto cooked in the microwave and steamed some peas, cut up some melon, and voila...dinner! The Fresh Market deli is always a fave!
  • This Scripture:
"the Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit."  Psalm 34:18

God promises to be there for the healing of the raw edges of our souls. (taken from a devo by Marilyn Meberg in the Women of Faith Devotional Bible).

I am claiming this promise............because it is based on Truth.

and we all need Truth.

Sorry your week was hard, Faith, but I'm really happy to hear that your exam turned out good. That is a huge relief. I cherish being able to call on my pastor's wife as a Godly mature listening ear and friend too. It's a huge blessing in life.

It's unfortunate that you had a tough week, but a blessing that you had godly counsel, friends, and wonderful scripture to help.

I've heard you mention Fresh Market Deli twice now. I'm jealous I don't have one nearby! Seriously, it's great to have a place you can count on when dinner plans have to be changed.

Our former church has been having a tough situation and as you said it's so comforting to be able to talk it over with godly mature friends.

Sorry about your bad news last week. glad you had your pastor's wife to talk with. My pastor's wife is a wonderful friend, too. Those chicken things sound yummy. Oh yes, and yay for the good mammo report. I didn't do FFF's last week. So busy. I have this Friday off, so should have no excuse : )
