FOR TODAY

Outside my window... it's the perfect summer day after 3 days of very hot and humid weather!  The temp is 73 with a nice breeze and cerulean blue skies with full sun....I love summer in NYS!

I am thinking... about the devotional I am in the midst of reading.

I am thankful...that I only had to wait 3 minutes for my ob/gyn appointment this morning....that is TRULY a blessing!

In the kitchen...(for dinner) Grilled tilapia, melon salad, cheesy-veggie orzo, garlic bread

I am creating...a photobook of highlights from 2010 (yes, I'm a bit behind) on Snapfish

I am going...to begin painting our side and front doors this week since the weather isn't humid.

I am wondering...if my oldest will like her birthday gift (a 4 cup coffee maker plus her fave coffee for her dorm room)

I am reading...The Dry Grass of August (excellent! grabbed my attention as soon as I cracked it open) by Anna Jean Mayhew; Respectable Sins (on the Nook) by Jerry Bridges; starting a personal Bible study (that I know I'll share on here and with my close friends) called The Friendships of Women by Dee Brestin and browsing through the ADK Club Book of the High Peaks Region.

I am hoping...my husband finishes the new ceiling in the half bath before Wednesday.

I am looking forward to...the mother-daughter date night I am going on with my youngest (to see the NYC Ballet at SPAC) on Friday evening. I'm also looking forward to my oldest daughter's birthday on Wednesday and our dinner out as a family....a new tradition we are starting since she is past the birthday party stage!

I am learning...that some people just can't learn to forgive and forget and start over even after reaching out in various ways to try to restore the friendship

Around the house...hubby Dave is still working on the half bath after work this week, the lawn needs a good watering since we've had no significant rainfall, and laundry is in in the washing machine!

I am pondering...about things my pastor's wife and I have discussed.........

A favorite quote for today...

"to love a person means to see him (or her) as God intended him (her) to be" ~Dostoevsky~
This is helping me to not be upset with a friendship not being restored...to just simply love the person as God does and to look at the good we shared.

One of my favorite things...iced mocha lattes on a hot summer afternoon!

A few plans for the rest of the week: returning books to the library, painting the outside trim and doors, celebrating our oldest turning 19, a dental appointment for the youngest, a hair appointment for me, the ballet, my youngest daughter's bonfire party on Saturday evening with youth group friends, and possibly a kayaking trip on Sunday afternoon.

A peek into my day...

.....am going to enjoy this reading spot before dinner.....and then maybe after an evening bike ride with the ballerina.......

I've got the Dry Grass of August on my to read list, but it will have to wait until fall when my self-imposed only books spilling out my closet rule for summer can be lifted. ;v)
