Who's Your Helper?

reading through the Psalms.

again.

backwards..........

............morning sun weakened by a grey mist and my soul feeling grey reflecting on my dad alone in his house, my mother rejoicing at the feet of Jesus and me plugging away at a job that overwhelms me with all those special needs..........all the frustrations of the moments of the day, the forward steps and backward leaps, the tears, the non-verbal cues, the hugs, the punches, the smiles the frowns...

.......facing another day in special education but not as teacher; with hands tied to certain situations just following orders wondering if going back as a Master Teacher would be worth it.....yet enjoying the paperwork-free/conference-free days and teaching children without the aggravations of being the boss.....

..........these things weighed on my mind this morning..........

.......so it seemed fitting that God had me in the Psalm that talks about His help.......

Psalm 146: 5 & 6 jumped out at me

"Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help.  Whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them;  who keeps truth forever."

The general ed students know me as "Peter's teacher-helper".  He looks to me to help him get through his day...to help him talk, move, listen, interact, complete work, and who helps him sort out his emotions.

And I think "that's what I look to God to do for me"

to help me get through my day.....

.............my God helps me talk to Him, to move, He listens so I listen, He interacts with me through his creation, his Spirit, his Presence. He helps me complete tasks and definitely helps me sort out my emotions.

I could not do life without God my Helper in Whom I place my hope.

and with that truth, the sun began to brighten.........as did my soul.....
