Telling Tragedy

Tragedy.

It's all around us...........

....................someone on some news station last evening said this past year has seen so much violence in our country.........this supposedly great nation...........more than ever.........school and mall shootings.....so senseless.....

how do we tell about tragedy to our children when it's children who are victims of senseless shootings?

Telling tragedy is not a role I want to play as mom and teacher

Telling tragedy needs to be done though, so I can point to the One who sees all, knows all and can bring the comfort only He offers..........to a world that is hurting, suffering, dying............

because He gets it.

He hurt. He suffered. He died.

Those children.....they're with Him right now.

and the shooter??

I've told my daughters that He has faced a Judge who is meriting out punishment much more everlasting than any judge on this earth could merit out..........

and we don't want to face that kind of judgement.

Telling tragedy gives me opportunities to tell triumphs........

.........to tell about my Savior,  the Redeemer Who saves our soul from eternal death, eternal judgement and

Who brings us Peace during perils....

................comfort during crisis.........

...................holds us when hell breaks loose on earth.........

.....................and triumph during tragedy.......

Talking to my young teen and sharing that these senseless acts are one of God's mysteries.....we don't understand WHY other than evil is present in this darkened world and we need to shine the Light of His Love and introduce the lost souls to the One who can become the Lover of our soul..........

The One who died for us because He loves us.  With no conditions.

He offers a Gift through the storms.......the free gift we only need to reach out and accept, believe, and confess we need Him to cleanse us......

that is telling triumph.............

this post is dedicated to all the moms, dads, teachers, counselors, pastors, community helpers, psychologists who have to tell tragedy to children and young adults.....may we remember the families in crisis and keep them in prayer.
