Jesus has one last night to spend with his beloved disciples......his most intimate friends.
He has had three years of ministry, roaming around the countryside, meeting thousands of people....desperate people, hurting people, ailing people, dying people......
and He has brought them a radical message.....one of New Life, New Hope, mercy and grace.......salvation,.
and He leaves us with..........
the promise that He will return and in His earthly place, He sends a spirit....the Holy Spirit, who dwells in all believers.
This book brings a fresh approach to the story of the Last Supper (the last passover meal) and the words Jesus spoke that evening as He served the disciples and prepared them for his death and resurrection.
The small group of moms that I lead has studied this book all school year. It is an in-depth look at Jesus' last night on this earth in His human form.
The study is such that it felt like we were right there with Jesus in that intimate setting and last evening of fellowship.
This Bible Study is divided into 10 Lessons and each lesson is divided into 5 Days. Each day has a portion of Scripture based on John 13-John 18:1 & 2. There is a short anecdote at the start of each Lesson and each Day and then a few questions to answer based on that particular set of verses for the day. After a few Biblically-based questions, there is a section entitled LIVE OUT with a few more questions to answer based on the thoughts of the authors and/or the verses just read. This section is used for the small group discussion. (Any of the questions each day can be discussed but this is the way my group did it). After each opening anecdote there is a short prayer and at the end of each day there is a good summary quote. Each day takes about 20 minutes to prepare.
The thing that drew me to this book for my group (Got Teens?!) is that it is a very good book at getting us to really examine the things Jesus taught the disciples that evening. It is humbling in many parts and very convicting in other parts. The explanations of what Jesus was leaving us with is most excellent. It is very clear cut and easy to read. It does not read like a heavy theology book but there is SO much depth in this book. My group will wrap it up by mid-June (I read ahead of the group although I haven't finished all the questions...I will in the next 4 weeks).
I highly recommend this book to any small group leader or any person who wants to grow more intimate with our Savior and Redeemer....and with friends.
It is perfect for women who want a profound, intimate experience studying God's words but don't have an overwhelming amount of time. With every lesson, you will come to a much deeper understanding of the truth that Jesus left us with.....with what He wanted His friends (and us!) to know and do....and you will develop a deeper intimacy with God.
This book is appropriate for ages 17 and older.
On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest, I rate this a 10.
