With a Grateful Heart Faves

It's with a grateful heart that I share these Five Faves....blessings....from the past week.

  • GOOD REPORT!  I had to have an ultrasound last week and on Tuesday I finally had the results after playing phone tag with the specialist.  The report was that "everything looks normal"!  Which the doctor suspected was the case and the minor health issue is just something related to menopause. Sigh.....they are so paranoid now about people suing them that they send you to a specialist to rule out all this other stuff!  I had a feeling it was just menopausal but it was a relief to hear that phrase "Everything looks normal"!  It's with a grateful heart that I say "thank You for good health and health insurance and friends who help pray".

  • HIKING!  I hiked on Sunday after the early service.  I drove 2 hours northwest to a remote section of the southern Adirondack Mountains.  I met my hometown friend, Cheryl, there and two of her friends.  So there were 4 of us in the group. My husband didn't want to go so I was thankful that I had an easy time finding the trailhead.  I had not been in this section of NYS since I was 25!  I had forgotten how remote the main road leading to the mountain was.......absolutely no cell service, no people except hikers, campers or fishermen.  It is in the poorest county in NYS but it is definitely one of the more beautifully wild areas in the state. I loved every minute of the hike. It was only 1.7 miles round trip but the trail was super steep!!!  We had to do a lot of rock scrambling and hanging onto roots to get up to the top.  Once up, it was stunning.  Beautiful views of Piseco Lake, the surrounding mountains of the southern/central region and we even spied a couple of smaller lakes tucked into the wilderness. It's with a grateful heart that I say "thank You for this beautiful creation"and for friends who like to hike.

  • SAFE TRAVELS!  Our oldest daughter (Courtney), her roommate, and 2 other young ladies, had a "girls weekend away" last weekend.  Courtney drove her car to the inn that they stayed in on the Cape.  I had told her to please text us when they arrived on Friday night and again when getting back to the north shore and campus.  They had left just a little bit before rush hour and I was a little bit nervous about her driving all that way.  It's with a grateful heart that I saw her text about arriving at the inn safely and then after my hike I checked my cell phone and saw that she had arrived back on campus in the late afternoon on Sunday.  A grateful heart and thanks to God that she drove safely and that all the girls had a great time.

  • DATE NIGHT!  Last weekend, Dave and I had a nice date night out for dinner and wine.  Our oldest daughter is at college, of course, and our youngest had a dinner evening with school friends at another mom's house.  So we took advantage of it and went out to dinner.  It was so nice to be waited on, sip wine, chat, and relax after a hectic Friday.  I loved it and my heart is grateful that we can do date nights every once in awhile.

  • SMOOTH ROUTINE!  My husband left Monday for a business trip to Ohio, which left just Claire and I at home for the week to do the routine.  It was a bit hectic because Claire being only 14 can't drive yet so I had to bring her and retrieve her from her ballet classes M-W.  Then last evening, she wanted to go to Youth Group but I had to be home by 7 (youth group begins at 7) to welcome the moms into my home as that was our first official small group meeting and I was leading lesson one.  BUT..the Lord took care of the details!  Claire told me when I came home from school that another girl from her Russian Club, who also goes to youth group, had to be dropped off early too as HER mom had to be somewhere at 7.  SO.....Claire had a good friend to hang with before youth group officially started, and I got to be home in time to welcome my own group members.  It is with a grateful heart that these kinds of details were worked out and that we had a smooth routine to our hectic week.  I also have a grateful heart that Claire was able to make the bus in the mornings!
That wraps up my week.

I like to end these FFF now with a Scripture verse.

For this week:

Enjoy these last couple of days of summer......

.........autumn begins on Sunday....and it's truly one of my fave seasons here in the Northeastern part of the US.

That looked like quite a challenging yet lovely hike.

I'm always so grateful to get that txt or phone call saying my kids have arrived safely. I've got all three doing highway travel nowadays, especially so my son, and it takes effort on my part to cast that care and anxiousness onto the Lord and trust Him with their safety. Our youngest will be doing her first time travelling alone on a very busy highway when she comes home for Thanksgiving. All part of growing up, I guess.

sounds like a great week! I too have a college age daughter whom I get nervous about when she does these types of things. Not that she can't handle it, just, you never know about other people.

I am a very lazy hiker, I just like strolling around and take pictures.
Being the driver for teenagers can be a real plague, lol !

I'm glad you got a good report from the doctor's office. Always nice to hear that, and to have insurance to take care of those tests and appointments.

I'm so grateful for texting so our kids can let us know they arrived somewhere safely. What peace of mind that brings.

Hurray for date nights!

I'm glad the details worked out for your and your daughter's different activities.

SO glad to hear your doctor's report was a good one. I know what you mean about your kids driving...and about playing chauffeur, too.

Date night? I could use one of those about now...

Have a great week ahead, Faith!

Even now when my kids are grown, they text me when they get home from a trip to tell me they are safe. And they expect me to do the same.
So glad your medical issue turned out to be nothing.
And of course, I'd love to take that hike!
