Today I am thankful for:
- The Safe Arrival of our oldest daughter. She left Gordon College campus yesterday afternoon in the midst of a very heavy rainstorm and just west of Boston, she hit snow. Then coming down here to Plymouth County she hit heavy rain again. We are so glad she made it here ok.
- Extended family. It is sometimes a pain to travel for a holiday, but we promised my in-laws when we became engaged, that Thanksgiving would be the holiday we spend with them. Because they are direct descendants of someone who came over on the Mayflower, this is a HUGE holiday with them (like Christmas is with us). Although there are MANY different personalities in this large family, we really are "there" for each other and it IS a special time to gather together.
- Helping Hands. The Thanksgiving Feast fell on our hands this year and everything went off without a hitch. We had a lot of help with people bringing hors d'douvres and side dishes. I'm thankful to my sisters-in-law for their contributions to our feast.
- Sunny Skies. I'm thankful for the sunny sky we had today. Although I was indoors due to cooking and feasting, we did have a much milder day than was first predicted.
- Industrial sized dishwasher. I am very thankful that my in-laws' church, where we had our family feast (in the fellowship hall), had an industrial sized dishwasher. We really needed it since we had 15 people today. I ended up getting my sister-in-law's boyfriend to help me wash pots and pans and my oldest daughter also washed some miscellaneous items that couldn't go in there. But it sure came in handy for all those plates and silverware!!
What are you thankful for today??
