Mid-Spring Faves

Another Friday is here and time to link up with Susanne to share our FIVE FAVES from the past week.  I like to think of these fave things/moments/people as blessings from God and by journaling them, it helps us to remain grateful to Him.

  • GIFTS:  my primary love language is Gifts (for those of you familiar with The Five Love Languages) and my daughters both bought me cards, some cute bracelets (with a cross and tree of life charm) and a worship and reflection adult coloring book.  I loved them!  My husband took us all out for brunch after the early service at church and it was delicious...I had Swedish crepes....with ligonberries. Perfect.  And totally relaxed all day long.  I'm thankful for Mother's Day and for my two daughters.

  • LILACS!  This year my lilacs are a bit early and a bit puny.  I think it's because we had buds on the bush at the end of February due to our very dry and mild winter and then we got hit with 5 inches of snow the end of March.  But..even though they are smaller and not as plentiful on the bush, they are still pretty and I love the scent.  The bush is close to my backyard swing where I like to read and have my afternoon coffee after work.  It's wonderful to see all the spring blooms opening up here in eastern New York.

  • NEW SONG:  heard this song (or click the video above ) and it was perfect timing. For me and for a couple of friends. The lyrics are very powerful.  It was a tough week for me but this song kept reminding me of just Who is in charge of my life. (for those of you not familiar with Hilary, she is the female singer from this group,  and is married to the son of our former worship director at church, who has since moved to a different church. and I JUST realized I posted this for last week's faves but you know what??  I love it so it makes my list again.

  • INTERVIEW!  My oldest daughter finally had an interview for a job in her field!  It's been almost a year since she graduated from college and wow...what a hard time snagging interviews it's been.  She had one this past week and did well.  There were 50 applicants, they chose 12 to interview and from these 12 they will call about half for 2nd interviews.  She is really hoping to be one of those 2nd rounders!!  They did like her portfolio (graphic design) so that is a plus.  Please help me keep her in prayer if you think of it!!

  • WRITING:  I finally  was able to write something for this blog that was from my heart and a God thing.  It had been awhile since I had anything written that was in any way spiritual......but God just spoke to me over the weekend and on Monday and this post is the result. I hope it encourages someone!!  I know it needed to be written and part of the reason is for my own soul!!  And it makes my fave list because I am so thankful I heard from God and started writing again.

That wraps up my week....I hope you are enjoying some awesome spring weather...we have had a very sunny and warmer week and we are so thankful for that!

What about you? What tops your list of faves this week?

I can't believe it has been a year since your daughter graduated...yes, finally feeling like spring, especially here in western NY--unfort. it is suppose to cool down this weekend. Have a beautiful weekend, friend.

I bought myself that same coloring book figuring I could color with the dayhome kids. I love lilacs. They are beautiful and abundant around here right now. I've been listening to that song since you shared it on FB. Praying that Courtney makes that second round!!

Love those lilacs!

How exciting for Courtney! I pray that God opens the door to the right job for her.

Glad you found time to write! We all need to hear each other's story.

Glad you had a nice Mother's Day! We have one lilac bush, but I'm afraid I don't like the scent. I was disappointed that I didn't - I brought one little stem in the house but had to throw it out after a couple of hours. They're pretty, though. I'm glad you love them and they're close enough to smell in your swing.

Yay for your daughter's interview!

That is a powerful song.

Hi Faith - looks like you had a lovely Mother's Day. You have such thoughtful children. I think that gifts are my primary love language too. I love a small, thoughtful remembrance, and I loved that book, The Five Love Languages too! Good luck to your daughter on the new job. Hope you have a wonderful, restful weekend.

I've been through it with a daughter getting a job also. Our mama's hearts want to take care of things, but we can't!! I understand.

As I begin my week, your post has encouraged me! The song, the link to your post (I *heart* the old hymns!).
Fingers crossed for a call back for another interview for your daughter!
