My oldest daughter bought me this book for Christmas 2017.
She gifted it to me because she knows I love the Psalms and nature. She also knows my spiritual temperament (per Gary Thomas' book Sacred Pathways) is "Naturalist.". Naturalists feel most connected to the Lord in nature or surrounded by His creation. For me, that usually involves hiking up a mountain but sometimes it's just sitting quietly with my Bible on my backyard deck.
This book contains 52 different readings (one for each week of the year) followed by some thought-provoking questions you can journal about or just answer to your self, followed by a short prayer based on the reading. the photographs/art works are exquisite. Each chapter also contains famous sayings by famous writers/Christians.
The author opens each chapter with something in nature along with an appropriate Bible verse based on her topic. For example one reading towards the end of the book was about flamingos and why so many of them are pink. It's because they are what they eat! and they eat pink shrimp. And then she talked about white flamingos eating white fish. And then she tied it in with Scripture and with the spiritual lesson that we are what we eat! And to feast on the Word of God daily, etc.
There were lessons revolving around animals, flowers, trees and other points of interest in nature.
I highlighted quotes that stood out to me, along with the Scriptures and points in the reading that were important to me.
This book makes a great gift for a nature lover or someone who is busy yet wants to dig in to some deep spiritual lessons that don't take up much time.
I love that I can keep this book and go back and re-read it and maybe gain some new insights or look up corresponding Scriptures.
In my opinion, this book is appropriate for ages 12 and older.
On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest, I rate this a 10.

I've read bits and pieces of this book and liked what I read. On my wish list.
