I just finished reading this non-fiction book about making a difference in everyday, ordinary ways as a Christ follower. I had never heard of this author before and because each chapter has Discussion questions at the end of it, I chose it for my Spring semester small group study I facilitate here in our home.
BOOK SUMMARY
The author writes about finding ways to encourage, support and brighten up the lives of the people around us.....our families, neighbors, work colleauges, church family, communities. She points out that showing the love of Christ is easy and will lead to happiness within us. (this was a follow-up study to How Happiness Happens by Max Lucado which my group completed during the Autumn/Winter semester.....this book was not as "deep" as the Lucado book and the questions were fewer in number).
The book opens with a prologue titled Follow His Heart and then there are 9 chapters with discussion or journal questions. My group decided we would journal our answers and share during group. We would typically choose 2 questions per meeting to focus our discussion around.
Chapter titles include:
- Parade of Lights (about figuring out which "light" you represent to the world)
- When Daisies Dance (centered around encouraging acts and words)
- Day Brighteners (being the "hands and feet of Jesus"/fruits of the Spirit)
- Once Upon a Front Porch Swing (centered around hospitality)
- Hearts Entwined (centered around friendships (this was one of my absolute fave chapters)
- Heartprints at Home (centered around parenting/mothers/children)
- The Beauty of Time (centered around the Titus 2 woman/mentoring)
- Even the Least (centered around people in need)
- Lost and Found (centered around evangelism/sharing your testimony)
Then there is an epilogue which is just a note from the author.
This study wasn't difficult and it was kind of redundant in parts. It's a nice book for a new Christ follower but doesn't have a lot of "depth" to it like a Max Lucado, John Piper, or Priscilla Shirer study. It was actually nice though to hear the thoughts of the other 3 women in my group.
In my opinion, this book is appropriate for ages 14 and older.
On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest, I rate this an 8.

Sounds like this book has some good reminders of what a Christian life should look like. Thanks for the review!
This sounds good. I'm always up for a new book to study...perhaps I can find a friend or two to join me!!
Sometimes we just need reminders of the basics.
