Wow...this week has flown by and as you read this, my husband is on his way south to the Dominican Republic with one of our church's missions teams. He will be teaching computer keyboard and design skills to inner city high school girls in Spanish. He's only taken 2 years of that language but he has a translator "just in case" and we gifted the school with a new computer and keyboard (in Spanish!) for the class to use after the church team leaves. I'm tired because I had to get up at 3:45 am to get him to the airport..........and now that I'm home (I took a personal day) I'm sharing FIVE of my FAVE blessings from the week and linking up with other bloggers who look for the blessings, over at Susanne's site. I'm most thankful for these random things this week:
- CHORES AND YARD WORK: Saturday morning was gorgeous...perfect temps and sunny. We did a ton of chores, errands and yard work: planted 35 tulip bulbs and mowed the yard, etc. It felt so good to get things done outside and in and I'm most especially thankful for my husband's help in getting the bulbs planted and the lawn done.
- GIFT FROM FRIEND: My bff (Lynn) told me at church that she had a little gift for me she picked up in the Adirondack High Peaks region when she was spending a weekend there. It was a dragonfly cookie cutter with an attached recipe. I thought that was so thoughtful of her as she knows our marriage symbol is a dragonfly. I'm thankful for fun gifts from good friends.
- SICK TIME HOURS: Monday morning I left work early (we only had 5 students so I didn't feel too badly.....7 are home sick with bad headcolds and from that 7, 3 have been exposed to Covid 19 so have to stay home for 10 days) due to a sore throat. I slept a bit and rested, took Tylenol and these amazing tabs and drank Throat Coat herbal tea. Tuesday I was not much better so I called in sick for the day (we were now down to just 3 students!). I'm very thankful for an understanding educational team as well as for all the saved sick hours I've accumulated over the last 4 years (Sick time rolls over year to year).
- CARPET ESTIMATE: Monday evening, before dinner, the carpet estimate and measure guy came over to do his thing. (We are replacing ALL the carpeting in the house: 3 bedrooms, 3 closets, the stairs and upstairs hallway). The quote was just a couple hundred dollars under $5000 and that is exactly what I prayed for (that the entire bill wouldn't be over $5000). We got locked into a sweet deal and although it will take 4-5 weeks for the carpet to arrive (shipping issues!), we should have at least part of this project done by Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for sales, good local companies to work with, and efficient contractors.
- FRESH COLOR AND CUT: Yesterday after work, I went to my stylist for a color and cut refresher. I had been trying to "go grey/silver/white" (aka old) for the last 9 weeks. Well, I couldn't take it anymore. I just don't wanna look "old" yet. I know, I know....the Scriptures say something about grey hair being a positive thing but people! I'm still teaching full time, I still have young adult children who aren't 30 yet, and I am not a grandmother. And plus....I just don't like looking "frumpy" (my opinion: hair turning grey unless I fully color it silver just looks frumpy). So....I went with a lighter shade of dark brunette with a bit of purple and I love it. My stylist also trimmed up the back making it into a stacked short bob with side swept bangs on the sides. Fresh color and cut is something I'm very thankful for as we head into the holiday season.
that wraps up my week of random blessings.
If you think of it, and you believe in the power of prayer, please keep my husband Dave and the mission team in your prayers as they serve the inner city people of the DR for the next week. Please pray for their health, safety, and that God will do a mighty work in and through them. Thanks!!
HAPPY WEEKEND!

I love your hair, Faithe! I'm not ready to give up on highlighting mine. It would be sooo much easier if I did, but I'm just not there yet!
New carpet! How fun! It will make your house feel brand new, at least that's how I've felt, LOL:)
Prayers for Dave and his endeavors. I love that the dragonfly is the symbol for your marriage. Would like to hear more about that!
Hi Faith, you look so good - much younger than your physical. I love the cut and color. You will have to tell me about how you choose the dragonfly as the symbol of your marriage. That was so nice of your friend to gift you a dragonfly cookie cutter. I have included both you and Dave in my prayers for safety and success in his mission trip, and safety and health for you at home. I love that you are getting new carpet soon. Hope you have a good weekend. :-)
Looking good, Faith! It's good to 'look good' especially coming in to holiday season.
I am glad you have good companies to work with for the carpet make over. Looking forward to seeing the results.
So excited for Dave's missions trip. It will be life changing for everyone, Dave and the people he serves.
What a sweet gift from your friend--love dragonflies!
Have a great weekend.
I'm glad you had enough sick days to take off. Hope you're feeling better. What a thoughtful gift from your friend. Yay for a good carpet estimate. I do love how a fresh haircut makes us feel. The tulips will look so pretty this spring.
Your hair looks great but I had a good chuckle about your gray hair comments because my then 23 or so year old daughter was paying super big bucks to have her hair colored gray. It was the style around here for young people for years. A lot still have some shade of gray or another. Wonderful that you are able to take time off when you need it for sickness or otherwise. In my line of work, it is next to impossible without guilt being packed with it whether from myself or from parents handing it down. That new carpeting will freshen up those rooms! Oh the supply chain woes. It's bad around here too. What a blessing to have a great price.
