2021 Book Review #32: Connections (Finding Your Place in the Natural World)

This is a non-fiction book written by an author who lives in a High Peaks/Adirondacks town where I have hiked a mountain.  I've also hiked 3 smaller woods trails in that town in the past and I'm totally in awe of that area.

This is the author's third book which centers around nature and how we relate to it.  Her first book is about her journey through her MS diagnoses and the life style changes she made.

I own her 2nd and 3rd book.  This third one was good but I much preferred the 2nd one titled Gentle Path of Healing.

SUMMARY

There are 31 readings in this book and it's divided into 4 sections:  Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer.   She has a way of creating word pictures that make it seem that you are right there in the Adirondack woods or on a mountain.

This book will help you to discover your own inner sources of power....where you can experience the energies of delight and wonder, elevation, strength and conviction, healing, and lightness of being.

You will learn how to connect with the energies of Nature in every season of your life.

There are some deep parts to this book and I found myself highlighting much of it, in each seasonal section.

This book is great if you connect with nature on any level and it's especially good if you like to hike in the deep woods or up mountains.

note:  this book is not Christian and some of the author's references to Nature really rather point to God and His Creation or as Him as Creator of Nature.    Sadly, she doesn't acknowledge God in this book.  I added my own thoughts based on Biblical Truth in the margins where she references Nature as a Person.

In my opinion, this book is appropriate for ages 14 and older.

On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest, I rate this an 8.

Sounds like a good book - a nice change from fiction. I just checked our library website and they don't have Song Birds. Our libraries out here often don't have some of the books you have back there. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

Sounds like it was a good read for you. I think I remember you reviewing the 2nd book on your blog?
