MAY FAVES

This first week of May just flew by.  It was crazy busy but I'm pausing to share FIVE of the FAVE blessings that came my way this past week and then I'm linking this up at Susanne's site to read how other bloggers were blessed.

  • IGNITE: Saturday afternoon I went with a few members of my small group and other church friends to our Ignite Your Faith conference at our church.   Women from our other 2 sites were invited too as well as women from a couple of other area churches.  What a great time of worship and the Word we had.  Then 2 of the ladies from my group and I had dinner reservations afterwards and since I had room for more (due to some of my members being ill), I spontaneously invited a friend who used to be our oldest girl's youth group leader/spiritual mentor and my dear friend and her daughter who hike with us. What a wonderful time of dinner, drinks and fellowship we had.  I'm thankful for the Body of Christ and the good times we have in growing our faith and friendships.

  • SUNDAY DINNER/WALK:  Our oldest daughter came over after church on Sunday and Claire had a brunch date.  When Claire came home, she saw that Courtney and I were heading to a local nature preserve and said she also wanted to go.  And then Dave said he would go!  So we had a wonderful hour at the preserve walking the trails.  I'm so thankful for family time!

  • TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK:  This past week is known as Teacher Appreciation Week and my classroom team received a very nice bag of treats from one of our students.  We were very much thankful for their thoughtfulness.  Also, our site supervisor treated us to special snacks, breakfast items, lunch items, special coffee......I'm thankful people took the time to appreciate us.

  • NEW WINDOWS UPGRADE!  Our new windows we ordered from this place back at the end of February arrived 4 weeks earlier than expected!  They went in on Wednesday and I was so happy to see the final results when I got home from work. Dave said the installers were top notch, even vacuuming up the little mess they made around a couple of the windows.  We had all nine windows in the house replaced (minus the deck door as we upgraded that when we put the bamboo flooring in the family room several years ago). Here are 5 of the new windows.  If you ever need new windows, I highly recommend Renewal by Anderson.  It's worth the cost. I'm thankful this project is done and that we were able to save my last year's salary to pay for it!

  • SPRING TEMPS:  This past week has been very nice.  Some rain but warm and lots of warm sunshine.  We've been able to take the students outside every day except once and it just feels so good.  I'm still dealing with sinus headache pain and pressure just about every day  and it's now  week 5. We're thinking it might be a seasonal allergy (although I've never really had them before) thing since nothing over the counter, nor the antibiotic is really taking it away. But....we aren't sure.  The temps help brighten my mood and the calendar says it's time for my annual blood work (tomorrow morning) and physical (Tuesday).  I'll be demanding some answers/tests from my doctor and a referral to an ENT. Spring helps lighten my mood and I'm thankful for the warmer days.
That wraps up my fave blessings from the week.
What made you smile?

Hi Faith. I love all of your Faves this week. Your windows look awesome. We have had Anderson Windows before and you are right - they are so worth the extra cost. Enjoy them! So glad you could go to the Ignite conference and have some quality family time last weekend. Our temps here warm up for a day or two, then fall again and more rain comes. I hope that you have a good weekend! See you again soon!

Hello! The seasonal allergies here in Pennsylvania have been extremely bad this year. I hope you feel better soon. Your windows look great! And how nice they came in earlier than expected! Have a nice weekend.

I'm glad you had a great time at the conference! What a nice family time at the nature preserve. Teacher Appreciation week sounds fun! Yay for the new windows! My husband has had a headache for several days now--over a week, I think. I hope you get some answers and relief.

The conference and fellowship sounded good and nice to get out as a family for a hike. Always good to be appreciated and teachers definitely deserve it. They should do that here in the UK, unfortunately they don't. Sorry to hear you are still having sinus problems. I hope the medical check ups next week involve getting further investigations done. In the meantime enjoy your weekend.

To address your comment on my page, I am with you so much in seeing the decline of many of our spiritual opportunities in various venues and in our culture. That is the foremost reason why prayer is so important. In our large city I know of only 3 locations that had the National Day of Prayer, and the number of people who take time to attend is so very slight to me it is heart breaking. At our church of over 250 members many who are retired and able , yet yesterday there were 4 pastors who worked hard to create a meaningful prayer time and there were 5 church members attending. Tonight We are attending the monthly Intercessors of America meeting and there are usually less than a half dozen folks present. But we are a dynamic prayer group, and again, very few can avail much in God’s Kingdom. It is us who wish we’d see many desire to meet together for engaging with our Sovereign God! All that said, I would be honored to pray for you and your allergies. Believe me, I understand, have been on allergy shots most of my life, and sometime suffer horrible headaches due to sinus pain. But I will pray because anything that might keep us from our communion with God or family, or obligations is not from God. The enemy uses everything at his disposal! So I will also be doing spiritual warfare over your situation. I want to bless you for using your blog to honor God and and His work in your life. I find you blog very uplifting and makes me want to do more in my Christian life. Hope you have a lovely weekend, and have adequate rest and renewal God bless you! Schotzy

Yay for the new windows! They look great and will help with heating and cooling costs because of their good insulation. Win win.
Love your opportunity to hike with all four of you.
Happy Teacher's Appreciation Week AND Happy Mother's Day!

Love the impromptu family walk in a nature preserve. Love when that happens. The pic of your family is great! I haven't been to a woman's conference in forever! It sounds great! Sweat of the student to give a bag of treats. It does feel good to be appreciated. The windows look awesome. I can't believe the cost of replacing windows but they look great and I'm sure will help with the heating and cooling costs. Enjoy that spring weather.

We're not doing window upgrades but tons of upgrades to the rest of the house. It's exciting. I love your windows and curtains :)

It takes a lot to be a teacher, and I admire you...especially the class you have to teach. It must be difficult at times but so rewarding.
