SUNDAY'S COMING!!

 

 

A most holy day in the life of a Christ follower. 

My entire household is saved.  For that I am most thankful.

Yet I sometimes wonder if we didn't take Good Friday seriously enough when the girls were little.  Oh yes, we taught them what it means.  They learned the scriptures surrounding the Garden of Gethsemane, the betrayal, the crucifixion. 

But did we really grasp the depth of this day??

Jesus suffered the most horrible pain anyone can imagine.  It's the worst way to die I've been told.....death from hanging on a cross. Our blessed Redeemer was ripped to shreds....all for us...every.single.one.of. us.  For our sins to be washed away. He bled.  And by His stripes we are healed. Some of us experience physical and/or emotional pain. But we have not experienced it to the depth that Jesus did. How humbling it is for me to reflect on His pain and death and to think it's all because He loves me. 

To some people, this is a very dark day.  I mean the Bible does tell us that the world got dark. And it was only noon!!  It lasted for 3 hours! Some of us can't even handle a power outage for more than a few minutes! 

The world got dark.  The temple was torn in two as prophesied. Can you imagine what the Jewish people thought?? and the Roman soldiers?? 

and for 2 full days there was an unsettled feeling, I am sure.  

Even when I reflect on this historical event all these years later in the 21st century, my mind can't help but dwell on the darkness of this world. It seems like each year just wreaks more havoc and that more people turn to evil.   That the dark is winning.......

but....we have Hope.  because Sunday's coming!!  And Jesus IS coming back one day.  We don't know when.  But it sure seems near. We have the assurance that one day He will reign in a new kingdom and  those of us who call him Savior and Lord will be with Him for eternity. 

but for now.....until He returns on a white horse riding.....we have Easter.  We have Resurrection Sunday!!

He's alive. He is the only God in all world religions that didn't die and stay dead. He rose again!!  And that gives us Hope.  It should give us Peace.  Because we know that He is alive and loves us. 

His Light can shine forth and we can share that Light. 

Darkness and death doesn't win.
