I'm doing the random questions meme from this blog again. Of course I am all about Autumn....ANYONE knows that. She's calling it "Fall". Sigh. But it goes great with her questions so......:)
1. Any signs of it where you are? What's your favorite thing about this time of year? Here in eastern New York, it only feels like Autumn in the early morning or after the sun goes down and we (the Capital Region) don't have much color yet due to the very hot and humid summer and the very wet July. But we are just starting to get some yellows and oranges. In the Adirondacks, the mountains are also no where near peak yet.....but there are some more reds this week than when i was there last week. My fave thing about this time of year is the cooler mornings to do my power walks! And the late afternoon/early evening bonfires....and my cute boots....and fun flannel shirts......
2. Have you visited any 'falls' in person? Tell us about one of your favorites? Of the following top ten famous falls (according to this site ) which would you most like to see in person-
Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe/Zambia), Igazu Falls (Argentina/Brazil), Niagara Falls (US/Canada), Angel Falls (Venezuela), Yosemite Falls (California), Dettifoss (Iceland) Kaieteur Falls (Guyana), Plitvice Waterfalls (Croatia), Gullfoss-Golden Falls (Iceland), or Sutherland Falls (New Zealand)
Have I visited any falls????? seriously?? of course! Anyone who reads my blog or follows me on social media knows I'm all about hiking challenges and the various Adirondack mountain challenges. Most of my friends know that I'm doing the ADK 50 Falls Challenge and that I have only 23 more to find! Yes I have visited probably more than 100 falls in my life time. The most "Famous" falls I've been to are of course Niagara Falls (from both countries of course and about 4x); And the highest falls in NYS, (highest free falling falls this side of the Mississippi River, down in the Finger Lakes region. and of course NYS other famous falls in the Catskills. (been twice) My absolute fave falls though is hard to choose because most of them just have something about them that is so endearing. One of my faves, since I have to choose one, is Jimmy Creek Falls. Here is a photo of it from 2021 in October. It's a short bushwhack hike in the southern region of the Adirondacks. And to answer her last part of the question: I'd like to visit the falls in Iceland and Victoria Falls in Africa. The thing that makes Jimmy Creek Falls one of my absolute faves? hardly anyone knows they're there and they don't know how to get there!!

3. What's something you'll miss about summer? The longer hours of sunlight and swimming in the lakes
4. A favorite fall recipe? Hm...another hard one. Does she mean Dinner recipes? desserts? breakfasts?? I guess my Autumn Apple Chicken Stew or my Stuffed Pepper Soup; my Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins; Apple Spice Cookies and Apple Crisp.
5. Something you enjoy but lately have allowed it to 'fall by the wayside'? Practicing my baroque piano music piece I was working on after teaching all day last year. Now that I'm retired, I am practicing other things but haven't touched the baroque piece. I need to get back to it!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Today was a glorious day for a cruise to the Narrows Islands on Lake George. Here's a pic of the Tongue Mountain Range in the eastern ADK from the boat. Do you see the fifth peak from the left? (the far right one behind the island) I hiked that mountain, named Fifth Peak, in the Spring of 2021. It was a short steep hike but fabulous until we saw the baby timber rattler. This is why I don't hike in the Tongue Mt range usually!!

I am partial to the world autumn as well. I say fall with my granddaughter because she has informed me that it is called fall because the leaves fall...everyone knows that. Mmmmm...your fall recipes sound delicious! I have been eating plant-based (mostly) for almost a year now so I think I would like to try your stuffed pepper soup if it wasn't "stuffed" with meat.
I never got around to commenting on last weeks posts and figured I needed to play catch up. I hate posting and then not commenting. Uggh. We'll see if I get around to posting this week. I loved your answer to #2..I recently saw a waterfall challenge on FB. That would be fun to do. I love finding them. Loved your recipe ideas...YUM!
