FRIGID FAVES

WOW...it's been a frigid week with temperatures in the low teens and 20s.  But it's WINTER and I'm embracing the good things about the season and thanking God that maybe we will have a Spring with no snow since we have been getting  some this past week.

I'm taking time out of household chores to share FIVE of my FAVE blessings from the week.  There are several of us who look for things to be thankful for and we all link up at Susanne's site.  I'm so thankful she continues to do this for us as I do enjoy reading what others are thankful for.

  • DINNER COMPANY! On Sunday after church, Dave and I hosted a small dinner party for a young couple and our oldest daughter who all go to our church.  The young couple are graduates of this school which happens to be the rival college of the one I went to in Rochester! In fact, the college they went to was my 2nd choice college!  The husband is on our Production Team Staff at church (yes, he works full time for our  church) and his wife is a vocal music teacher in our school district. She is the one who directed our Xmas Eve Choir. Dinner was at 2 and they all ended up staying far into the evening.  We had so much fun with them and it was refreshing to learn more about them.  Also, our oldest daughter was wanting to meet more friends who are around her age and who also like the same things and so she, Hannah and Scott hit it off. I'm thankful for the younger generations and that we could host a nice dinner for them.
Sunday Morning
  • WARM HOUSE:  I'm so thankful for central heating that keeps our house warm during these cold, frigid mornings. Most of the mornings have been beautiful but oh so cold. I'm thankful I can drink hot coffee, have my devotions, and curl my feet up into fleece blankets and watch the morning sun rise while the house warms up.

  • SALE!  I've been wanting new soft cotton pj's for winter/early spring for awhile now and love the ones from LLBean. However, I refuse to pay $70 for a pair of pajamas no matter how nice they are.  So...I've had my eyes on these ever since the end of November and finally they went on sale this week for $54.99.  Well, I had $40 bean bucks to use so I managed to get these jammies for only $15.59!!  Shipping is free for us as we have their mastercard. I'm thankful they'll be here by Sunday and  I'm also  thankful for good sales!
Wednesday morning
  • WINTER WHITE:  Here in eastern NY we finally got a little more snow.  Just enough to need to shovel the driveway but not so much that we needed a snow blower.  I'm happy with this amount as I love how Winter White looks on the ground.  It covers the muddy brown grass and just makes everything sparkle in the mid-day sun.  This pic is one I took before I ate breakfast and it was only 14 degrees F.  BRR...I'm thankful for the beauty of Winter.

  • BEAUTIFUL BIRDS:  All week we have enjoyed watching the early morning birds at the feeder and suet feeder:  bluejays, cardinals, nuthatches, black capped chickadees, juncoes and 2 different kinds of woodpeckers.  We've been having a Hairy Woodpecker at the suet feeder in the morning, noon and at dusk.  Every single time I've tried to get his picture, he spooks and flies off.  I did manage to get the downy and the cardinal yesterday morning with my iphone camera.  If I had my daughter's really good camera, I could maybe get the Hairy but they definitely don't like humans so even then I might not have luck.  At any rate, these birds are beautiful to watch and against the white backdrop of snow, they're stunning. (Last winter we had a pilleated woodpecker twice at the Suet feeder although so far this winter we haven't seen one).  I'm thankful for God's beautiful creation.

That wraps up the week of blessings for me.
What about you? What is something you're thankful for this month?

ENJOY THE WEEKEND!

Lovely snow pics! On Monday, the snow was so pretty falling...and falling...and falling. Now today, it's still on the ground with a layer of ice covering. I'm over winter! LOL We do have a thaw coming here to East TN this coming week.

It sounds like you had a good time with your friends from church. What better way to get to know others except over food!

I've wanted to get a bird feeder. It's just a matter of where to put it by my apartment. I had a nice one at my house in Florida and loved watching all the visitors outside my kitchen window.

Enjoy your snow. And stay warm. Love the jammies. I have a couple long flannel nightgowns that are my comfort. Have a blessed weekend.

Hi, Faith,
The link to the Mitford gift shop: https://themitfordmuseum.org/gift-shop/
The candle is soy and it burns very nicely but I honestly was a bit disappointed in that the fragrance isn't very strong. But then, I'd never smelled wisteria before so maybe it doesn't give off a strong fragrance.

Hi Faith. I didn't think I would be able to join in with FFF this week, but last night I decided that looking for the good and being grateful is exactly what I needed this week. Glad you had a good week. I love the L.L. Bean jammies. Their clothing is so nice. I hope your weekend is a good one. See you again soon.

You've had some nice activity at the bird feeder. The only species that you have that we don't have here is the cardinal. I was hoping to see some on our trip last week, but it was so cold that I think even the birds were especially quiet.

It sounds like you had a nice week!

Lucky you to get all the birds at your feeder. I am trying but not many are stopping by right now. Once in a while I see a cardinal :)
What a wonderful time with that young couple and your daughter! You did a great job hosting, obviously.
We are loving the snow too. Especially since we don't have anywhere to go until tomorrow... (and it is still snowing here). I do love the serene bright views.
Stay warm and cozy!

Hi Faith, good that you got to use those bucks for LL Bean. I have several comfy sets to wear around the house. I don't wear them when I go to sleep because I get too hot. I did find the nicest blanket at Sam's Club. It is just heavy enough and so soft. Even my dog wants to snuggle with me. Enjoy your pajamas!

Just enough is my favourite amount of snowfall as well! Though you won't hear me complain about enough to shut school down for the day either. Those jammies sure look warm and cozy. I think we have to have some kind of treat for ourselves to get through the long cold winters.

Well those PJs look nice and comfy and just right for the cold weather. Always good to get a bargain too. It's been cold here too but no snow thankfully - even a little bit of snow seems to bring the UK to a halt lol. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

How nice to host that dinner. Getting to know people over a nice meal is one of my favorite things. Wow, you get lots of different kinds of birds at your feeder. Now that we don't have a cat I've been debating on getting a feeder too. Those jammies look comfy and you got a steal of a deal when all was said and done. Enjoy your winter white. After a week of record setting cold we are now moving into a week of record setting warmth. The big dump of snow we had should be melted with really quick with the chinook winds and the +12*C (54*F) we're supposed to have by the weekend. Southern Alberta weather whiplash at it's finest.

Not sure if my comment went through. I keep getting an error pop up so I'm leaving another.

How fun to host that dinner at your house. Getting to know people in a cozy home atmosphere and a good meal is one of my favorite things. You get a lot of different birds at your feeder! I been thinking of getting a feeder now that we no longer have a cat. Those jammies look comfy and I love that color. What a steal of a deal you got when all was said and done. We are going from record setting cold last week to record setting warmth this week. The chinook is coming and by the weekend it should be 12*C (54*F). We are in weather whiplash in Southern Alberta.
