I'm waiting for the laundry to be done in the washer before I head outdoors to do some weeding in my front flower bed, and thought I'd join in on this fun Tuesday 4 Meme. You can read more about how to join in by going here.
Tuesday morning coffee |
1. Do you jump out of bed or hit the deck running as I call it or are you slow to get up to speed in the morning? I pretty much jumped out at 5:30 every morning for the last 40 years Monday through Friday due to my teaching job and children. Now that I'm an empty nester and retired, I tend to do my neck stretches, roll out of bed, do my yoga pose, and immediately go down to watch the first 20 min of The Today Show and have my first cup of coffee. I love the slower starts since retiring last June.
2. Do you start the day with coffee or tea? Or do other things help you wake up like washing your face, etc.? I start the day with coffee. Typically one mug, then another mug with breakfast, then sometimes a half or whole mug while reading. Now that I'm retired, I tend to take my shower after I eat some breakfast and go for a power walk or do more stretches.
3. Is the best part of waking up some Folgers in your cup? What brand of coffee or tea lights your fire? Our absolute fave is Guatemalan coffee by Starbucks (or Guatemala when Dave goes on his yearly missions trip). Dave's fave is Nantucket Blend by Green Mt Coffee of Vermont, and my favorite is French Roast from Starbucks, Chocolate Raspberry from The Fresh Market, or any brand of Sumatra. We love our coffee. I typically buy whatever's on sale for the week between 3 specific brands: Starbucks, Green Mt, or Peets.
4. In the Netherlands toast with hefty style chocolate sprinkles are a usual breakfast. Italy also begins the day with rolls or cookies. Britain and America are eggs, bacon, toast, or cereal. What about you? What is a typical breakfast for you? My husband does intermittent fasting so he only drinks his small glass of juice and 1-2 mugs of coffee. I prefer a French style breakfast (ever since we spent a week in Paris in 2010!): a croissant or piece of flaxseed bread toasted with jam or just Earth Balance butter; fruit like raspberries and blueberries or sometimes blackberries and/or cantaloupe; cheddar cheese. Usually I eat a bowl of Nature's Path quick cook steel cut oats with walnuts, cinnamon, and some kind of berries. That's my breakfast, on average, about 5x per week. The French breakfast is usually 1-2 times. Sometimes I have a boiled egg with it.
Well that was a fun way to spend a few minutes! I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday! Here in eastern NY it is a perfect Spring day...almost feels like early Summer!

Hi! Happy Tuesday. It's raining here... again and I'm missing the sunshine. I'm happy you are at least enjoying some nicer weather.
1. I'm slow to get out of bed and I'm not a morning person - a total night owl.
2/3. I start my day with coffee. I don't add any sweetener to my coffee, only half and half or whole milk. I like Peet's Organic Dark Roast, Whole Foods has an organic French Roast that I like, and also Solar Roast Company. I like Golden Moon Organic Earl Grey loose-leaf tea and decaf organic green tea bags from Whole Foods store brand. I like to drink Earl Grey in the afternoons, and decaf green tea in the evenings before bed.
4. I don't like to eat breakfast early, it's usually around 10:30 when I eat. I usually have half of an English muffin with almond butter and honey, some raspberries, blackberries, or blueberries on the side, and sometimes a cup of Forager cashew milk yogurt or bowl of oatmeal with maple syrup and a splash of almond milk. I do love muffins and croissants for breakfast, but I don't allow myself to have those too often. We often make pancakes once on the weekends. I don't mind eggs with sausage or bacon, but I prefer them more a bit later in the day for brunch instead of breakfast.
Hope you have a great day!
Hi Faith! I get up at 5 a.m. on week days. In the summer and on the weekends, I am usually up by 6:30 a.m.. I eat a light breakfast of a nut/protein bar and fruit and drink some juice - usually Cranberry- Acai. I read the Bible while eating, then do a workout routine for about 20 minutes. Fun post. See you again soon!
I have not had to get up that early since I retired back in 2011. I like your list of coffee. I can't drink very much coffee because of osteoporosis and acid reflux. I have to have protein at breakfast. I am learning to eat more plant-based protein, but I do love my eggs! I am back at the gym and enjoy the treadmill. Enjoy your coffee!
Oh I love Guatamalan coffee when I buy beans to grind.I like your breakfast choices too. Very healthy
I like your breakfast choices a lot. I don't know if I've ever had Guatemalan coffee. I'll have to look for it and try it.
Thanks for joining in!!
I am not a jump out of bed awake person at all. But once that alarm goes off I have to hit the floor running. Have to have my couple cups of coffee. I can't wait for slower start mornings one day.
